Used with 39K Miles?

What are your thoughts on buying a used 370Z with 39K miles on it? Ideally I've been looking for something under 15K miles but no luck. It's a CPO 2010

Default Used with 39K Miles?

What are your thoughts on buying a used 370Z with 39K miles on it? Ideally I've been looking for something under 15K miles but no luck.

It's a CPO 2010 Touring/Sport/Nav/Auto with the color combo that I've been looking for; basically everything is perfect aside from the mileage. I looked at it today prior to the Nissan dealership detailing it (the car just came in). Exterior was in need of a wash, but the interior looked excellent. Unfortunately, the tires were worn down, probably < 40% tread left all around. It's a 1-owner, "clean" carfax (barely any maintenance reported on it with no oil changes listed, which bothers me).

Listed at $29.9K (overpriced vs. comparables in the area). I would only consider buying if I can get the price below $26K, but I believe I'd be able to manage that if I tried hard enough.

Hopefully you guys can offer some insight/thought into my decision. Fell in love with the Z on several test drives so now it's a matter of finding the right one at the right price.

I would say hell to the no! The miles gets me not to mention the tires. Tires on this car are expensive. Oil changes are expensive. Be patient and don’t jump into anything without being 100%. From the sound of it you’re not 110% happy with this 370z. Took me like 6 months to find the right one and played hard ball when I did. Out the door for a 2011 sport base with 3800 miles on it I paid 30k in California/Sacramento. Check carmax, Cars.com, Auto trader.com. Also your best bet is to buy end of the month mid week or end of the year to get the best prices and deals.

Yeah, I do agree with you guys. I passed on another Z last weekend because I realized I'm not going to settle for less, even with a good deal. Another couple months with my little Accord coupe won't hurt.

Thanks!

The Mileage to me is not a concern: cars run for a long time. 40K in 3 years means a highway commuter. What I would concern me is a lack of Nissan service records, and the price (its too high). CPO can sometimes be total crap and a dealer can 'invest' in it or remove it at whim. I had an infiniti dealer tell me they would un-CPO the car to get the price down another 1000 as they would not budge on a price I thought was too high. *** hats.

Other companies, CPO is a real investment in time and money for the dealer. Nothing wrong with really interrogating the dealer. What does CPO mean here? Does Nissan publish exactly what CPO must be to qualify? If so use it as leverage if they are cutting corners.

I fight this thought every day.

b, it looks like Nissan's CPO standards are pretty straight forward (< 5 years old under 60K miles). I don't know how thorough their inspection is, but I would trust that in order for the car to be CPO that it's in good condition.

In this case I doubt Nissan would come as low as I need them to on the price, especially now that I factor in the cost of buying new tires shortly after purchase.

Trust and dealer never rarely *ever* go hand in hand.

There are exceptions sure. Given how I saw a Infiniti sales manager offer to take the CPO off to get the deal done (and lower cost 1K) tells me that depending on the level of prep for the car, the dealer may or may not have much invested in the CPO certification.
