Just came from the dealership.

Hello, fellow forum members.

I just came back from the Nissan Dealership in the Universal City. Test drove their 2012 (i believe) 370Z Roadster.

Fell in love right away. Felt amazing and the sound is just incredible

I was looking to purchase 2012 Touring Sport Nav 7AT,
but some experts say that there might not be available any fully loaded Z's in September.
I decided to go ahead and order 2013 PW/Persimmon Touring Sport Nav 7AT.
The dealer told me that he would give me a call in a couple of days regarding the price and stuff like that.

I was very nice to him, but made him know that I am not a type of person who they can extract a lot of cash from. :tiphat:

Now eagerly waiting for him to call me back and specify all the details!
___
Any suggestions on how to talk to him regarding prices etc.? How far can I push?
Also, I told him that I don't need any "minor" options like illuminated kick plates etc., what if he orders some of them and will make me pay for them too?

Thanks in advance.

Peace, yo. :P

Also, will I need to pay a down payment?!

buddyZ 07-10-2012 11:02 PM

if you have good credit and put down a little bit of money youre still looking at a 550 or 600 a month payment.

I forgot to mention, I am not financing it.
Just want to pay once and for all.

Also, what I noticed is that there was no kickdown button on the gas pedal.
I searched on forums, and it seems some Zs have them some not? Why is that?

blackcherry20 07-11-2012 05:28 AM

Cash up front should give you the advantage-too bad you're not closer I would send my husband out to help you negotiate-he is da bomb when being hard line and knowing when to give in :-) Rule No.1: Be willing to walk away. Have it set in your mind before you start...helped us tremendously.

Mikes350z 07-11-2012 09:16 AM

if you are truly paying cash/bank certified check, inform him this is the exact amount you will pay and you will give them 5-10% down to secure the car at this pre-arranged amount.

i.e. $35,000 total for the car, putting down $3,500 to secure this exact price for this car and will take delivery by xx/xx/2012 effectively creating a purchase order contract with them...

(this is not legal advise)

Truecar's website will be your best friend, and for any new car buyer. Make sure you don't settle for MSRP, agree on invoice price first (then add TT&L for the final price).

What is TT&L?

It would have been amazing, thanks anyways!
I feel very confident to walk away if the price will not be right!

About the 10% down payment, seriously? That seems a lot for the down payment imo.

Taxes, Title, License. random fees pretty much.

That's pretty standard. I actually put more down for mine lol. I put about 5k down payment + my trade in. Helped lower my monthly payments too.

Regarding payments, I'd start at invoice pricing (not sure if it's available for 2013 models or not) and work from there.

I am not sure if it is available, but the salesman told me that he would give me a call either today or tomorrow. Originally I didn't plan to spend more than invoice +$1k at max.

p.s. I forgot to tell him that I wanted a rear backup cam as well. Is it possible to install it after, considering I'd have the oem nav?

martin82 07-11-2012 11:27 AM

FYI I RAN from universal city cussing their sales manager saying "we don't sell cars under msrp"!!! I ended up buying from Miller Nissan in Van Nuys and had no issues, I printed zagg or true car pricing and showed them they beat it just a bit....

Well, will see when he calls me.
I've been told that Fontana Nissan is pretty good too.

dP3NGU1N 07-11-2012 11:45 AM

TTL is going to add about another $3500 I think (based off 2012 invoice price of $37000 tour+sport) so don't forget to factor that in. Might be a couple hundred more since you're going for a vert+nav package as well.

I'm pretty certain with the 2012 models the backup cam comes with stock nav. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I will be getting a coupe anyways. Testdrove the roadster, just because they didn't have automatic coupe. :P but roadster was fun.

I am here: Google Maps

I've had different issues with Universal. Ever since looking for a quote online they keep calling me with their "event coordinators" who know absolutely nothing about cars* asking me to go in for a test drive. I keep telling them to put me on with someone from sales so we can talk about price because I've already driven the car and I'm looking to buy. Stop wasting both of our times and "coordinate" me with someone who can actually make a deal with me. Three times I've been called by these so called event coordinators and three times they said someone will sales will get in contact with me with the hour. Never happened. I'm convinced Universal is just full of a bunch of drones making desperate phone calls and wasting people's time.

*When I say they know nothing I mean they can't even give me an MSRP price for the vehicle. For example I told them I wast interested in touring+sport and they kept telling me that the car I'm looking for is $32k. Waste of time... :shakes head:

speedfreek 07-11-2012 11:52 AM

I have stock Nav and it comes with backup cam, so I am sure the '13 will as well.

martin82 07-11-2012 12:57 PM

I had the same issue above, NO ONE knew anything about a car/prices etc!! I even even called and told me a 2012 Nismo was on the lot before I drove there (Nov of 2011), I asked are you SURE? I get there i was a 2010 used nismo.............., I cussed them out on my way out so that other customers could hear me LOL. I will never go back there AGAIN!. Fontana is also a great dealership just a bit too far from me...they will quote you great prices!

If you are looking for some closer again I had great results with Miller, Sasha was my salesman...

I think a lot of people are confusing a down payment vs a deposit. Since the OP is paying in cash he would be putting a deposit down to hold the car. Usually down payment is referred to with financing.

Yea, that is what confuses me. How much will the deposit be then?

I put $500 deposit when I ordered my Z with the dealer.

speedfreek 07-11-2012 02:32 PM

I would say $500. It should be negotiable. Just shows your intent to purchase. I have ordered vehicles before and just put anywhere from $500 - $1000 down for deposit.

BeksNice 07-11-2012 02:53 PM

This sounds more appealing.

zero 07-11-2012 03:04 PM

My dealer didn't cash my deposit and retuned my check when my Z arrived. Find the dealer you can trust and is willing to work with you. I would stay away from Universal Nissan.

With all you guys telling me to stay away from Universal makes me really do it. Should I just tell him that I decided not to buy the car once he calls me? And instead just go to Fontana or Miller?

martin82 07-11-2012 03:17 PM

check out http://www.the370z.com/nissan-370z-d...inventory.html

That would be nice to talk to Sasha. Cause Russian is my first language, lolz.

martin82 07-11-2012 04:28 PM

haha, give him a call at Miller Nissan in Van Nuys. Tell him Martin with the first 2012 Z he sold me back in Nov!

I will. Thanks.
What about the Universal? Should I tell them that I am not interested anymore?

Tell Universal the price you wanted to pay and have it in writing. Universal does not like to sell under the invoice.

BeksNice 07-11-2012 04:41 PM

Will anyone ever be willing to sell under the invoice for a new ordered car?!

Try get an online quote with Connell Nissan in Costa Mesa. I ordered my Z and paid $500 over the invoice.

martin82 07-11-2012 05:36 PM

I think you will get close to invoice on a 2013.... but not below invoice.... I picked up my 2012 (#1 vin) in november, didn't order anything, just walked up to the dealer and said I want a Z and find me what they have/is coming in the boat.....

BeksNice 07-11-2012 05:57 PM

Alright, thank you guys.

This week is a little bit busy for me, but I will definitely go straight to Miller Nissan and talk to them about it!
Will keep you updated.

Is Sasha a girl or guy? A Russian named Sasha Kaun played mens basketball at Kansas university. So Sasha might have big hands. LOL :icon18:

BeksNice 07-12-2012 10:38 AM

Doesn't matter. But I'd assume he's a guy.

binary0x01 07-12-2012 01:20 PM

Sasha in Russia is short for Alexander and Alexandra... so could be either one.
