Looking to buy a 370z
Hey guys, I have been lurking around this forum for a while and have now decided to post. I found a 2011 Nismo Nissan 370z for 28,000$. It is a CPO. This will be my first car purchase and unsure what to make of it. I think this car is priced way too low, right? Additionally I checked its VIN number and according to CARFAX there is 10 History Records...whatever that means. I have yet to pay for the CARFAX report. Any tips or help would be greatly appreciated. Edit: Forgot to mention this car has only 4800 miles on it.
Thanks! |

for a Nismo. yea sounds WAY to good to be true, i suggest you check the car fax, and go over everything with a fine tooth and comb. something just doesnt add up...

If your really intent on getting a used car just pay for the carfax it is worth it. 10 things in the history is too much for a 1 year old car with so few miles. It means its changed owners and/or been in shops fixing things a lot. It sounds like a lemon and someone is trying to off load it.

carfax isnt always a bad thing. i paid for two carfax reports on a new car with 199 miles on it, only to find out that the only reason the reports existed was because the car traveled from one dealership in one state to another in a different state, and had to be inspected / serviced at each interval. the details confirmed that there were no issues. however, i agree that 10 raises suspicion. is it a dealer or private sale? if its a dealer, i would say, "if you show me the carfax details, i will co sider buying it, but im not paying for 10 carfax reports at 30$ a pop." not sure what CPO stands for...

If car has no problems and you want a Nismo then strike on it. It can not last long at this price if it is a true deal.

When something is too good to be true it usually is. Ask the dealer for the carfax they can look it up for you for free.

Sorry, do these cars really retain value that well? MSRP was what, 42K-ish? and it's 2 model-years old? I am feeling better about my purchase. I saw "nice" 370Z's from 2009 on Autotrader going for $28-30K with lots of options about 6 months ago and 20-30K miles.
Definitely makes me feel good, lol |

cpo = certified pre-own. Must be from a dealership. If you finance through Nissan, they will cover the car under an additional warranty I believe.

How Many MF threads are you going to start about this car? Post a picture and a VIN and maybe someone here previously owned it will chime in.

Even if you don't finance it through Nissan, you can buy an extended warranty on a previously owned car, as long as it is still covered by the factory warranty, in other words, if it has less than 36/36,000

I always buy a year or two old when I can... the month of new car smell doesn't diminish the feeling of losing 10-15% of market value instantly. Also an 09 loaded w 20-30 isn't even a stellar deal at 30k... I paid 32 for my 40th with 14k miles over a year ago and those cars fetch a bit of a premium. End point is retention of value is practically a worthless topic when it comes to cars IMO... buy it because you like it and can afford it. Either that or garage it for 50 years and wait for the value to come back around (assuming they are even valuable then). |
