Default Used 2011 with 500 miles.

I have my eye on a 2011 with 500 miles. It has the sports package with synchrorev and its in the color I want. Dealer is asking $32K, but I am a little puzzled as to why and how often someone buys a car and dumps it after 500 miles. Any thoughts as to why someone would do this?

I checked the carfax report and at 250 miles it was registered in another state 1000 miles away. Now it has 500 miles, so it must have been transported.

I'd like this car BUT, when I see behavior that seems bizarre, it give me pause because something seems hinkey here. Any pitfalls to avoid? Thanks.

After looking it up on KBB or similar, should there be a premium adjustment for it being a Sales demo? It was probably ridden pretty hard during those first critical break-in miles.

Would be better off with a 2012 with sports pkg at $31,500. However, if there is nothing wrong with the 2011 and I can snag it for $25K, then it becomes palatable.

I appreciate the responses and look forward to more responses.

As long as carfax checks out, I wouldnt worry about there being anything sneaky going on. Listing at 32K sounds about right, got my 2011 for 33k.

I bought a 2005 350z in 2006 with less than 400 miles. I saved $10k off of the original sticker price.

Some people just impulse buy things and either don't want them or their wife/girlfriend decides they don't want it.

My salesman and I figured that the guy bought it for his wife and it was kind of like saying, "Look at this nice drill that I bought you for Christmas". "That's nice honey. Now let's return it and buy me expensive jewelry."

I bought the 350 at a BMW dealer.

Insurance costs could have been a problem as well. Lots of people with bad driving records get a real suprise when the cost of that is factored in and they can't afford it...and have to dump it fast.

They wouldn't sell it as used if it was a demo.

First off the new dealer cost on that car if new in 2011 was only $30K , in order to sell it they need to make it worth your while $27K -$28K is really what the car is worth. Look up the trade in value of the car now deduct about $2500-$3000 below that trade in value and that will give you what the dealer paid for it. Now add a $500 -$900 to the actual dealer cost of the car and you should be able to get it for.

Note you can not always trust car fax, that only covers accidents floods physical insurance issues etc , not waranty or service related issues. What you should do is go to another nissan dealer in your area with the vin # of the 2011 Z and have the other dealers service manager run the vin # thru nissians computer and they can tell you if there is any waranty or issues with this car.Don't truxt the dealer who has the car, as they can BS you.

I guess your OK with rejection in your life. Because no dealership in their right mind is selling that car for 25K. Mileage is rediculously low but I doubt if it has had major issues. I have an 2011 Magnetic Black SP 6m setting in my garage that was purchased in April of 2011 currently with 1100 miles on the odometer. Probably won't see another mile until late April early May. Some guys buy cars and really don't drive them. I am one of those stupid guys I guess.

Why pay $31,500 for a used one , when you can get the same model new for only $33,000.

For another 4-5K more, you can get a 2012 G37s 6mt sedan. You'll have a bit more room, same engine/trans (no synchro rev), and cheaper insurance.

The G37 is nice, but its not a true sports car, you really need a 2 seater.

The G37 reminds more of an Altima Sport Coupe V6 with a rear wheel drive conversion.

I never really liked the luxury brands of the cheap american cars, and then you had the Japanese starting it in the 90's, just fancied up base models with new names and leather interior.
