Guys give me your opinion on this, I currently bought also 09 370Z MB 6speed Sport Touring 22,617miles at a dealership in IA. I offered them 27K OTD. But now I have to pay the Registration, and title fees, etc. The dealer sent my money back only for the tax . They cant process the tax and the rest, reason being they are out of state. Asking or advertise price was $26,499. The dealer said I can return the car. What do you think I should do? I want them to pay the Reg.and fees, and the under tax that thet estimated.

Gsxr750, i got the car for $25,245.07 no tax,and other fees.

That means they can't give you a Nissan extended warranty, but my Nissan dealer was going to give me a third party warranty to start with. As long as its a company that covers any dealer/garage you would be good.

The price you paid isn't to bad if you really wanted the car and it was in perfect condition. As most of the dealers here in Las Vegas are scumbags to deal with, I'm originally from NY and there is no end to the scams dealers try here out west. The nissan dealer up here tried to charge me an extra $1000 for set up and destination and adverstising which is already built into the MSRP already and $450 for documents fee. I had to pay the $450 doc fee but had the price of the car reduced by $450 and I didn't pay the additional $1000 dealer BS charge. Basically at the dealers money talks and BS walks, if you got the funds, you can name your own price as long as the dealer walks way with $500-$1000.

Basically the dealer made about $4000 off you for a used car and my dealer only made $960 on my new 12 370z with sport package manual, $36800 OTD price.

In this example you can see that its always better to buy new than used, specially from a dealer. only buy used if its from family, friends or someone you trust privately.

I might want to return the car now.

gsxr750 01-23-2012 12:48 AM

If they give you that option with buying the used car it might be wise to do so,or at least negociate a few thousand back on the transaction.

I'll try my best today.Wish me luck!

Too much its better off to buy new, just got a 2012 manual and sport package for $34k plus tax and fees, $36,800 OTD. Dealer mark up on 370z is 9.6% off MSRP including dealer hold back of around $950.

If this is a base model you overpayed a 1.5k invoice on the base with sport is roughly 32.5k. If it's a touring then it's a killer deal.

OP it sounds like they tricked you into getting the car before the details were ironed out. This is a common tactic in hopes you let them charge you the extra money cause you now love the car. Stick to your original deal. What's your state tax %? and tag and title fees?

gsxr750 01-23-2012 11:29 AM

There were other options that the dealer added but they were minor they added up to around $500, once there added to the car the dealer can't really remove them.

One thing on renegociating the price you paid leveraging the return policy. Make sure you don't fall prey to the dealers tactic of showing some print package which shows how much they have into the deal, when they took the car in trade.

Whenever a dealer takes a car in trade , the dealer never gives the new buyer the lowest possible price on a the new car he buys.

Example a leftover 2011 vette I ws working a deal on last week the best cash deal I got on it was $45K, couldn't get the dealer to go lower. Called later on in the week, when my dealer on the 2012 vette fell through. The dealer told me it was sold and a guy traded a 2009 vette on it and they ended up making $4k more than I would have paid on the clean deal.

Just rember stick to the wholesale figures I gave you, this is what the dealer actually paid no matter what and if they have a return policy, believe me they would be willing to pay you more money than they owe you to keep the car.

Right now you have the dealers family jewels in a vice tightening.

The Final Price

Guys, This is the update,The manager at dealership fold his card. He is sending me back a check for $1,960, which covers all the taxes, the reg. title and fees here in IL. So the final price of the 2009 Nissan 370Z with 22,617 miles is $25,040. Adding to 27K my offer OTD. I was firm about returning the car today. I also know that they need to move their inventory as well. Sometimes if you strongly believe on something that is not right, at least try to fight for it.

gsxr750 01-23-2012 12:01 PM

Just make sure you pick up the check in person, they may have a time limit and jerk you around about mailing a check out and its after the time limit and they would say that you never contacted them about the return. Or at least a signed letter from the dealership detailing their promiss to you. Most dealers will kiss your *** before the sale, but after when they have your money, they treat you like sheep being eaten by wolves.

Aizen Sosuke 01-23-2012 02:20 PM

I'm glad it all worked out, your original offer was more than fair for them as well. As gsx-r said make sure about the return check, if possible pick it up yourself
