Thumbs down Bad Dealer

So I was going to pick up my Z yesterday, but I caught the Dealer in their lies and I walked away upset. They had a PG touring w/sport on their lot, but it was still owned by Nissan Japan so they didn't want me sitting in it unless I was going to buy it. OK, that was fine with me.

1. Was told the car only had a handful of miles (about 5 - 10), car had 31 mi. WTF, were they joy riding the car?
2. Took the carpets out and told me the car didn't come with carpets
3. Mounted the front license plate bracket off centered and didn't notify me they were going to mess up my front bumper plus they told me that i didn't tell them not to mount it. I told them they didn't notify me they were going put 2 holes in my bumper and they need to replace it. Then told me state law required it to be mounted on the center. BS! State law requires the plate to be mounted in the location where the manufacture installs the bracket, else anywhere securely on the bumper is fine.
4. They said the price I'm getting it at is very good (vpp) and told me to take it or leave it. I chose leave it.

To bad for them, cuz they purchased the car from nissan japan to sell to me, which i would have bought if they didn't lie and try to cheat me. so now they got 1 extra car on the lot that they didn't plan for

you'd think they would think a little more before opening their mouth, since i mentioned that there was another dealer about 20 mi away with the same car.

I've never heard a dealer saying you can't sit in a car. How do they expect you to buy it if they won't even let you sit in it, much less take a test drive.

Sorry about your dealer. Keep looking and you'll find a better dealer.

Before I was signing all the paperwork,
my dealer asked me, " So, which 370Z do you want to test drive(I believe they had two in their lot)?"
Me, "none of them".
Dealer (kinda shocked), "You're going to buy a 35K car and not test drive any of them?".
Me, " I know exactly what this car is capable of . Test drive is not necessary". Also, I felt bad about driving someone's car. Even if I were to test drive, I'd probably baby it.
That's when I revealed who I was and about The370Z.com. We chatted more than two hours.

I never test drove any 370Z before buying mine. But if a dealer won't let me sit in a car, I will be a little upset.

yea, i'm gonna check out that other dealer, though they pressure you to buy, they accept vpp so it should be fine.

but yea, i felt the same about the car so i was fine with not being able to get into the car till they had purchased it from japan.

We have had cars that Nissan owned for Training purposes, and we couldn't drive them, nobody could. But you could sit in them. Just move on to another dealer.

I had some shitty luck in las vegas as well.

The first dealer I went to, wouldnt even talk to me about price, they said pay sticker or get out, literally.

The second dealer (about 10 miles away), had the Tent Sale going on. They said "I cant help you today, we have to sell cars NOW, so come back on tuesday and I'll help you".

sure enough I wont be coming back. turning down a buyer in this economic times? haha!

The third dealer, another 10 miles away, did the exact same thing. The guy tried to get everything going but the boss shoo'd me off.

Apparently because they dont want to waste time on "ordering" cars, they just want to sell what they have in stock.

I was ready to give up, then I remembered of a dealership about 20 miles north of my house.

Went there and had much better luck, Finally saw the color I wanted in person. but it had no sports or nav. Told them to order it, so they got it all ready and said they need 5k deposit. I said thats fine, how much when all's done and said?

They wouldnt go below 750 over invoice. at first it was 1k. so I kept talking to them and said i'll pay 37500. They said thats 1,100 below Invoice, I said no its not, but the guy kept saying nissan does not mark up their cars more than 4% or something like that. I told him to get me exactly invoice and i'll pay that, and he kept saying OK invoice is 38,600.

I asked for proof, he said ok, BRB, and then 20 minutes later came back and said he cant get invoice because nissan USA is closed for the holidays. Come back on tuesday.

so after looking the entire day, ready to put 20,000 down, spent 2 weeks trying to buy something, I still cant buy a 370z.

I guess I got a little too deep into it, but im just trying to say, keep looking. every dealer is different and they all suck regardless.

It's ridiculous to not let you sit in the car, but I wish the dealers around me would be a little more stringent with the test drives, and I wish people would be a little more stringent about taking them. I've read a lot of posts on this forum about people going on multiple test drives, and they say they are "seriously considering" buying one. One nice test drive should do, and wait until you are actually ready to buy. I test drove one car, and I was ready to buy. I didn't buy from that dealer because he was way off on price and it wasn't my preffered color, but I would have taken it if he wowed me with the price. I test drove the car I ended up buying, but only because it had 300 miles on it from a bunch of non-buyers that just wanted to take a Z for a spin. The dealership even said they were tired of people just coming in to take test drives.

I know that nobody really likes car dealers or salesmen, but they do work on commission, and you're just wasting their time and miling up someone elses ride with multiple test drives. You know if you can afford the car and you know if a deal can work for you. If you're going to wait for the 2010s to come out, then wait until then to test drive one.

Aug 08 I was still in Iraq. But I knew what I wanted and as soon as I had my down payment saved up and was ready to trade my old 04 RX8 in. I had my car a couple days later..

Man...when I got mines from NCN there was maybe 10 miles on it. I think I put another 10 during the test drive, only because I didn't know WTF I was at.

The only issue was the rear bumper marks which was taken care of. I noticed the paint has some residue from the transportation stickers/covering. Other than that the car was perfect.
