I was just about to order a 2012 370z base with sports 6mt gun metallic from the dealer for $35,000 otd. A friend in my squadron is having a kid, so he's selling his 2010 black 370z with sports 6mt 20,000 miles. My first choice in color is obviously gonna be gun metallic, but black is my second choice. He's going to sell me it for $26,000. He's gonna give me his set of winter tires also. What do you guys think? I can't decideeeee. :/

honestly, i think 35k is a bit high for a base/sport. as long as your friend hasn't beat on his car i would go with his.

I think you can do a little better on both of them... 25k for my 2010 with 11.5k miles

Well before ttl I'll be paying $32,700 for the new one. Ive been saving for two years, so I don't want to settle. I would just be saving a lot of money. What kind of quality was your 370 when you got it for 25k with 11k miles? Kbb says 27,700 for excellent and 26,700 for very good.

Well I cant decide. I want the '12 because obviously its newer, has less miles, has an oil cooler, and has the color that I want. On the other hand though, I'd be saving like $9,000 if I went with the '10. I just dont like not knowing how its been driven. He's a friend, but not a really close friend, so I dont know exactly how he has been driving it. Gah. Going to check it out tomorrow though.

get the 12 if you can afford it, it sounds like what you are really leaning towards. Also 26K doesn't sound that good of a deal.

It is what I'm leaning towards, because I dont think I will feel as passionately about the '10 as I would the '12. We'll see tomorrow though. I could probably talk him down to 25,000.

The question is do you plan to mod your Z? If you do, then saving 9K, and putting it into your friends Z (assuming his Z is not modded), would probably get you an aftermarket oil cooler, and other goodies. Now, if you are purely concerned about how hard he has driven it, and you just want a new vehicle (as I know I did, and felt the same way when purchasing my Z) then going the route of the 2012 seems more plausible. Also, the factory oil cooler is not going to sufficient (once again assuming you will track/mod the Z). So, It all boils down to what your future plans for the Z are. If you want to save money and invest in the Z later, I say go with your friends, if you wanna get a new vehicle, stock, and plan to mod that later on, then the 2012 is the answer.

I'd get the new one. Then it will be yours. Buy his, and it would also be yours ... but after he had it. Would you support sloppy seconds or prefer to be the first to ride.

The only performance mods I plan to do in the near future would be a full exhaust and cold air intake. I plan on painting the fang and painting the headlights/taillights. I dont plan on tracking it, besides the obvious quarter mile every few months.

Thats what I'm thinking. Yeah, the 2010 might be the more financially responsible choice, but I want it to be exactly what I want and only mine. I want to take its virginity lmao.

So it sounds like realistically, the choice would be the 2010. With money you are saving, you can put into the exhaust/intake/and other ext. mods. And I wouldn't worry to much about the Z being used, because a used Z or not, a Z is a Z. Its still going to pull as hard, its still going to give you an enjoyable driving experience, and you will love it, maybe a little less, but you will still love it.
