2010 vs 2011
Hi everyone, I'm a new member here and I'm looking to buy my first Z. I'm looking to buy a 370z base with sport package. I'm in the boston area so winter prices are coming out now. I have a two 370z's I am comparing between right now.
There is a New/Left over 2010 Platinum Graphite base sport package at one dealer they are asking 29,000 for right now. I have them down to 28,000 for it right now and might be able to get them down to 27,000. The other 370z is a New/Left over 2011 Gun Metal base sport package. They are asking 30,000 and might be able to get them down to 29,000. First of all, other than the gun metal color, are there any changes between 2010 and 2011? Second, which one would you go for, the 1000 to 2000 dollar savings, or the extra year, consider resale value aswell? Thanks in advance for the help guys. |

Where are you located?
There is also a considerable difference in MA excise tax, you'll save several hundred more by going a year older. Although even the 2011 won't be that bad if you buy it as the model year is almost over. The difference in price between the two is roughly the difference in resale value, so take your pick.

If you keep it for 6+ years, get the 10 because the resale difference between them will be < $2000; If you keep it for a couple of years only, the resale should be about $2000. I'd save the money & get the 10.

Ok thanks guys. I didn't realize that exisce tax wa less on an older model car even when it is considered a new car? So there are no changes made to the car between 2010 and 2011? Those are both great prices?

There are likely to be tweaks between 2010 and 2011, but I've not seen any clear delineation of what they are. Rumors and anecdotal evidence suggest that perhaps sound insulation might be better in the 2011's. The other thing is the occasional failures of the steering lock disabling the car. That latter seems to be more of an issue in the 2009's, but might affect some 2010's depending on date of build. I've not seen anyone indicate such a failure in the 2011's. I seriously doubt that there haven't been at least some little incremental changes over those three model years addressing Nissan's observation of issues that might have cropped up in consumer use over that period of time.

2011 gets heated mirrors, and sun visor extensions I think. Nav gets reverse camera, and other upgrades. Also rear view mirror camera option.
Gun Metallic paint. Last edited by Geoff Jones; 12-25-2011 at 10:15 AM. |

Orrect me if I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure the heated mirrors were new for 2010? I think the 2010 had heated mirrors?
Are those prices good prices for those cars? 28000 for 2010 base with sport package and 30000 for 2011 base with sport car? |

Thank you, I thought the 2010 had heated mirrors. Now as far as the grinding gears in the 6 mt transmission and the steering colomn lock issue with car not starting, any news of that happening in 2011? It seems like the problem existed in 2010?

Steering lock issue is mainly 09, although maybe an early 10 or two. No issues with my 2010 and haven't even heard of a gear grinding issue.

Ok so no major changes other than Platinum Graphite to Gun Metal which I'm not sure what I like more but I want one or the other. So 28 and 30 are good prices on 2010 and 2011? I'm leaning towards the 2011 a little because the dealer has been better with me and they are 30 miles closer. Also I noticed a clip on the panel under the kick plate that is loose and it worry's me if it was bumped some how being on the lot for 2 years, where the 2011 has been in the show room the whole time.

dunno if this helps, but in Aus there are quite a few differences between 2010 and 2011. Below is direct from a Nissan bulletin to dealerships (I'm at IT systems admin for a nissan dealership).
But check with your dealer if they have a similar bulletin for the US models. 1. Introduction of Nissan’s Next Generation Audio and Navigation System 2. Addition of Rear Reversing Camera 3. Addition of a Cargo Blind to the Coupe 4. Addition of Climate Controlled Seats to the Roadster 5. Addition of Wide-Angled Door Mirrors 6. Colour Change: K51 “Carbon Silver” deleted and replaced by KAD “Gun Metallic”, which is featured in the current Nissan GT-R colour palette. |

Sun visor extensions are also on the 2010's.

My 2009 has the cargo blind, the 370z roadster always had climate seats and the 2010 got the Nav upgrade, so most of those were earlier in the US, by 2010.
