Tried to make deal on 2011

After sending out feelers to a couple local dealers, I went down to fort pierce nissan to make a deal on a 2011 touring + sport. After going back and forth I was unable to make a deal happen, I was at 24k otd including my trade (worth ~10k). They were well above this. After crying myself to sleep that night, I was gonna go to Orlando to try and make a deal on a 2011 base + sport, touring was nice but not necessary for me, but before I hit the road I called up the local dealer to see what they had.

They told me over the phone that they had the car I wanted, 2011 base + sport 6 spd, but when I got there the car was not to be found. They came back and said that a mistake was made and the car in their system is actually a 2012 base + sport 6 spd. I said ok thanks but no thanks (cause at that time I hadn't even thought of getting a 2012, figured that the price on a 2011 would be way better. I told them to tell me what they'd sell it for, thinking a deal wouldn't be made. They came back way high, but we ended up coming to a deal. I ended getting the car for 33,321 (which looks to be a decent deal). Car should be here Monday or Tuesday, pretty excited.

Thanks,
Pete

Cool beans bro. Hopefully you won't have any buyer's remorse.

thanks frost. I assume by buyers remorse you mean base vs touring? Don't get me wrong, I like the touring, just don't like the price increase that comes with it.

I meant more of the price increase between the 2011 that you wanted (which they have to be wheeling and dealing to get those off the lots) and a 2012. But yeah, touring is a tough selection too

I really thought that they'd want to get those 2011's off the showroom floor fast, but I didn't get that vibe. The best deal I could find on a 2011 touring + sport was 29k otd (including a 10k trade in), which was way above what I wanted to pay. No one would budge from those numbers. I couldn't even find a 2011 base + sport black/black within 250 miles, so I "settled" with a 2012 which I really think is nice surprise for me. I was not liking buying a one year old model year car as "new".

You know, I didn't think of it until now, but I remember when I was going to buy my 350, and had the same exact experience. I remember one dealership had a TWO year old 350 in the showroom, and wouldn't budge but a couple grand under msrp. Must be a Z thing, because that hasn't been my experience in all the other cars I've purchased.
