Please Post Here When You Get Your 2012

I'm just trying to see when others start getting their 2012 Z's. Mine is scheduled to arrive November 18, and is about the 500th car built so far.

Please post your car's build date, delivery date, and your aprox VIN# so we can figure out how fast they are building them, and how long it's taking to get them delivered.

Thanks ---- Bonzo

Here's my story today from other threads......

Quote:

So I swung by my dealer on Saturday and got the official paperwork. Car was built on September 25th, and is scheduled for delivery the week of 11/18. The other paperwork, a dot matrix report print out, has the code on where the car is, and INT means sea transit, so it's on the boat. My dealer says that in the last 3 months every car they have gotten has actually arrived 1 - 2 weeks earlier than the scheduled date.

AWESOME, it's on it's way.

For thread relevance, the VIN# is in the low 500's. So as of September 25, they have built about 500 2012 Z's.

Now I'm wondering how many they actually build a day. I know with high production vehicles like pickup trucks, GM builds more than 1 truck every minute (something like 70-80 trucks an hour). I'm assuming the Z has a much lower rate, but I wonder what it is? Is it super low like 20 per day or is it like 100 per day?

For a while I was tracking VINs and build dates of 2010 40TH AEs and I came up with a build rate of around 20 370Zs per day over two months (mid December 2009 to mid February 2010).
I know they build other models besides 370Z in the assembly plant, so the 370Z build rate may be different now, but it gives a rough idea.
It would be interesting to know how fast they are building them now.

Thanks for the insight, and for making me feel less crazy about trying to track this.

What I've learned in the last 6 months is that in terms of mass production comparisons, this is a very low volume car. 370's have sold WAY less than 350's within the same 2-1/2 - 3 year first release time period. I'm chalking that up to the economy and the Camaro being back, but I'm just guessing. But even if you use 2009's sale of 13117 cars, and divide it by say 48 weeks, that's only about 275 cars a week. Use 2010's numbers and that drops all the way to about 210 cars a week. 2011 is even slower.

Yeah, hopefully I'll be able to figure it out soon and report back.

Per this thread http://www.the370z.com/nissan-370z-g...uction+numbers August was about 130 cars a week. Although since allocations and orders weren't happening as usual, one has to wonder how many of these cars were older orders or "remakes" due to the tsunami.

If you use the 130 per week figure, with my car built on 8/25 and a VIN# around 500, that would mean 2012 production started at the begining of September (or even late August). Hard to know for sure until we get exact build dates and aprox VIN#'s.

is Nissan back to full swing? if not you have to consider that they are running rotation with other car manufacturers due to limited supply of materials and electricity. you cant just go by the standard R@R.

That's exactly what I'm trying to figure out really. Well, and more selfishly, if my car will be early or on time or late. With actual build dates, delivery dates, and VIN#s, we should be able to figure it out.

Thanks for posting here!!!

Built 8/11???? You sure you don't mean 9/11? Not to give a bad 9/11 vibe here, but if your car was built 8/11, and mine around number 500 was built on 9/25, then certainly they had a shut down of sorts?

I mean, it would seem like either your build date is wrong, or you don't have a 2012. But your 56 VIN# says 2012. Has to be wrong build date or a shut down. Or did you simply typo?

Can you give us better feel for your VIN#? Like 1-50, 51-100 etc? If you're not comfortable with that it's cool, I understand. I'm just looking for basics. Mine is 500-550.

By the way, I LOVE the Black Cherry. I'm just too much of a lazy frack to keep it clean. I had a 1997 Tahoe that was Dark Cherry Metallic and thought it was beautiful, just a bitch to keep clean.

More pics of you car would be great!!!
