Question New to Z's, need some help..

Hey you guys. Just joined the site the other day because I'm looking into purchasing one of these beautiful vehicles. Just a quick question and there is no "right" answer, but what do you guys think I should be paying for Touring w/Nav + Sport?

Any tips for talking to a dealer?

Thanks

Two very helpful threads:

2009 Nissan 370z invoice Price

How I have scored invoice pricing with 3.99% APR on my 370Z?

Also, welcome, hope you get your Z soon.

Thank you, I should be friends with the search tool beings this isn't my first forum. And yes, hopefully I can afford it. I have a new car now which I love, but obviously, if I could afford the Z, why wouldn't I want to get the beast?

^ Kind of depends on the options youre choosing. The tranny for example makes like, a $1,200 difference. But in general, I would say you could possibly do better. If you're really serious, hit up this thread. It saved me about $5k.

For those ready to buy a 370/other new Nissan or Infiniti Vehicle

You should shoot for around 37.5 before ttl for 6MT. (if it has every single option added)

Take the tax/title fees out of equation when quoting prices, it varies too much between states.

Look up the invoice price in the thread listed above, that's basically what you should be paying (even a little less). To that number add your taxes and fees. Beware of dealer "add-ons".

Yeah, I did. I actually took that paper with me and he was skipping over everything and heading straight to MSRP. As a result, I left. But yes, it was 6 MT, only way to go

Just purchased a Black 370z with Gray interior, Touring/Sport/Nav packages $37,575. Had them add the illum. kickplates in.
PS. Manual is my only preference in a sports car.

Default You shouldn't pay anything more than $37,600

Hey man, I just got my Platinum Graphite, Touring with Nav+ Sport, kick plates, Trunk and floor mats ,6MT for $36,999.

I wouldn't say my deal is the norm but I found this forum to be a great resource especially in regards to negotiating.

Two things I recommend,

Find the configuration you want and the dealers who have it and email them an offer. I visited the dealer closest to my house and got him down to $38,100. Good but not great. I then sent email offers to 3 other dealerships offering a purchase price of $37,000 with the expectation of negotiating a price of $37,500. Having also included the price I had been quoted already, I was giving them a window of $1,100.

The first two got back to me with counter offers in the high $37k range. The third dealer got back to me a few hours later with an offer of $36,999! This happened on the morning of April 30, which leads me to my second point.

Buy at the end of the month. This has been a basic car buying rule that goes way bad and for good reason, it makes a difference. Sales managers are such better listeners when the prospect of selling another car that given month is staring them in the face, especially in this economy.

Also, be prepared to travel a bit, within reason. You will usually get the best deal when buying from dealer inventory. I try to not travel more than 2 hours each way unless it's an exceptional deal, but everyone's time is not valued the same. The dealership I got my car from was an hour away, but I felt that was not a big distance to drive to save $800. the dealership experience was the worst I've ever had, but that's a story for another threat
