Default buying a new 2011 when 2012's are on the lot

Once the 2012's start hitting the dealer lots, what kinda of price should 2011's be going for? As i understand it from reading this subforum, a Base + Sports can be had right now for 31.5k. could a leftover 2011 be obtained for much less than that? How about 4 months from now in January 2012? Thanks in advance!

EDIT: thoughts on how low i can get a leftover 2010?

Don't count on much of a discount if any this year. There is a backorder by most of the dealers for 370Z due to the earthquake in Japan resulting part shortages. My local deal had 11 Zs on the lot in April when I bought mine. They are down to 1 and have 11 on back order that they don't know when they will get.

For a 2011, I would try to make a deal right at the end of the year (like 24-31 December). You might be able to get a base + sport for $31k or maybe even less if you are lucky. For a new 2010, I wouldn't pay a dime over $29k at this point and you would definitely be able to get a great deal if you wait until the end of the year (assuming you can find a 2010 at that point).

So does that mean the 2011's should be rarer to find now since the low production rate because of the quake? How many did they make in 09/10/11? Would that make them worth more for resale to some people? I don't think it would matter to the dealer. Anyway, just a thought I had.

I suppose because supply is low, the prices should be higher thus allowing dealerships to price it accordingly. but doing a nationwide search on autotrader shows quite a few 2010's sitting on lots.

yep, it is just a matter of finding what you want. Certain combos tend to be very difficult to find.

And how far you're willing to go to get it.

I found a brand new 2011 Gun Metal Nismo w/ trunk and floor mats, illum kick plates, and rear view camera for like 39,300$ in Florida. I'm really tempted to buy it, but I don't want to pay that much haha. Finding that again will be close to impossible once it sells!

There is a new Red 2010 Touring here in OK. 31,500 on the window. I'm currently searching for a White 2011 Touring Auto....and the dealers are slow to work out a swap to get it to me. I wish they'd just bit the bullet and tell me where to get the damn thing. One way ticket and I'm on the way to driving the wife's new Z home.
