How many are in a 100 mile radius with the same options and same equipement? What prices are those vehicles going for? Find one that is less and in the range you are looking to be at, and use that for leverage.

So what is the price of the one with 2K miles? 30K or 28.7k?

Roadster4Us 08-03-2011 01:31 PM

Why aren't you negotiating on the one with 2K miles? Seems there price is right in line with what you were looking for.

By the way, looking forward to going to Death Valley again this year to see my Noles. You guys have one hell of an atmosphere, especially for night games, so I'm hoping for an afternoon game LOL. The other two games I have attended haven't gone so well (2007 & 2009) ha!

One thing I came to realize is you have to act like you are really serious about buying a Z (not necessarily their Z). If they feel at all like you're "just browsing" or jerking them around than they won't go lower on price and they'll kind of brush you off. You have to give every dealer the impression that you've been searching for the perfect Z at least all summer if not a year, and that their Z is very interesting to you. Just remember that they will have other customers and other cars to worry about so you need to set yourself apart and make it known that you are serious about purchasing and this isn't just an impulse thing or a "that car looks cool" thing. It also helps to be very well researched on the car and drop specs and numbers and features on them. A lot of salesman won't have any clue about some of the features and you can use that to your advantage to show you are serious and well-researched on the car. It's all about the attitude you present and not just the numbers you throw out. Good luck.

The dealer will never come down low enough on the one with 17k miles on it. I wouldn't pay over $26k for it. As far as the one with 2k miles, I would say that if you can get it down to $28.5k that's not a bad deal.

Good Luck!

Not really related to your purchase, but I noticed a used 2009 Z that someone must have traded in at my local Hyundai dealership. It was a black base (no sport) with MT. 27k miles and they were firm on 29.9K! Even if it would have the sport package I wouldn't pay anywhere near that much. They thought I was lying when I said you can get a brand new 2011 for very close to that. They obviously have no idea what they have with that car. Either that, or they hope someone who has never seen a Z before comes and bites on it. I'd probably pay about 22-23k for it. Point is, sometimes you need to be in the right place at the right time when looking for Z's. Some dealers will work with you and some are complete morons. NO matter how long it takes you, do your homework and get what you want.

I wouldn't pay over $25.5k for the used one with 17K miles. Having patience for the right deal and walking away when the numbers are not what you budgeted from the getgo are your greatest assets and would save you thousands of $ during the purchase.

Vaugh, Pack, and Birdman, much appreciated and very helpful. mjd, I definitely agree that there is a lot of ignorance at non-Nissan dealers selling used Zs. LOL @ 29.9k

Haha...I bought my 2010 new in Feb 2010 for $300 less than that car. What a joke!
