Is asking 30g otd for the base too little to ask for?

No dealer is willing to let the base with no sport go for 30g otd that i wanted. is that too low of a price?

$30k OTD in sacramento would be too much of a low ball. An extremely good deal would be $30k + TTL. You have to understand also, dealerships aren't just heartless bastards, gotta understand they are trying to make a living too.

well sounds like it is too low then since no dealers giving me for 30. then i have to get it for 31 then cash to them and hopefully they do it. but i will wait for 2010 to do it.

base 6spd or base 7spd auto? If 6spd, i dont think it's too unreasonable considering MSRP is around 31,000. Normally, I've always been able to get cars for at least $1,000 below MSRP out the door, and that's including california's HIGH TAX!

when i bargained, i started with 30k for touring otd. i was very firm with the price. they got me to 33k and i said fine. you should work as low as possible when you looking for the best price.

you can also talk to the fleet manager, ask him for the invoice price, and just say i'll give you xxx over your invoice price. that number can be whatever you want, but normally in the hundreds.

yea i got my black 07 civic ex coupe 20k otd when it came out then. but nissan dealers wont do for their 370z.
i wanted the 6sp mt. i did started by 28 otd and they laugh. best one give me 28825 before all the tax and fees. but i want is 30 otd, not that. some dealers say good luck finding it, so i have to say ok and hang up.
i guess i have to wait til 2010 comes out in fall or winter i hope soon and maybe one of them may let it go for 30.

370z is pretty limited at this time. so getting a major discount might be pretty hard. but keep trying.

Artic's right.. you have to keep in mind the Z is limited, and still practically brand new. I've yet to see another 370Z on the road since they've come out.. Dealer kind of has the upper hand and they kind of don't because of the economy.

Your best chance at getting a steal is probably when the 2010s come out and if there any base 2009s left on the lot, they will probably be more willing to move that car at a price that will make you feel satisfied.

For the most of us, we had to fight and pull teeth to get a decently discounted price from the sticker.

stay strong and firm. although the Z34 is limited, dealers still want to sell these babies because inventory is probably killing them. if you think they are hustling you, just walk out. chances are, they will call you back in. if not, walk. plenty of dealers.

It sounds like CA dealers are being pretty snooty about discounting. But what about all these people posting great deals and getting below, at or near invoice prices??? Are they the lucky ones amongst the regular guys who are not getting that great of a discount? And what about finding a VPP participating dealer and getting a # from Robert Nash? I have read that thread and plenty of people are getting great deals. I think I read somewhere that you can expect 0.5% off invoice. I'm waiting for a reply from Robert and poised take it to a participating dealer to see what I can get.

helps to talk the lingual that they use. too bad i don't know any. but my friends all get good deals when buying a car using the car buying lingual.

easiest way to get a price is probably just straight up ask for the invoice and see what you can work from there.

don't let them ask you about the monthly payments you want to make. no point in that. because you want to get the final price, your final price is low, so will your monthly statements, as long as you have good credit that is with a good APR rate. but monthly payments in the car buying negotiation, to me, it's worthless.

Here's a great story about how to get invoice price.

How I have scored invoice pricing with 3.99% APR on my 370Z?

The reason your price is so hard to achieve is because you want them to quote OTD price, which is invoice + all other fees. The other fees are basically set fees, so you should be more concerned about negotiating the price of the car, not the ancillary things.

Find out what the exact invoice price is for the configuration that you are interesting in. Remember that this must include destination fees. Once you have that price you can request quotes from all the nearby dealers. Don't worry about the other fees because most of those are set. Just be wary of any documentation fees over $100. There really shouldn't be any documentation fee, but don't turn down a great price because of a $50 doc fee.

You should also request a quote from a nearby supporting dealer like Boardwalk Nissan.
