Default 370z Order Refusal

I have gone to two dealers now in my area who have told me flat out they would not order a 370z for me.

They have told me my two options are:

1. Select one of the 370Zs they have in stock. I dont like this option because if I am a paying customer I want to get what I want.

2. They would try to make a trade with another dealer in the area and then THEY would drive the 370Z from the dealer to me. This option sucks because there isnt a 370Z in manual with a sports package within 300 miles.

Maybe my negotiation skills suck...

Anyone else have this issue?

eh, my dealer would have gladly taken my 370 order if they couldnt find one, but the lead time is minimal, 90 days, which i DO NOT want to wait till the earliest Aug to get my car. But option 2 is exactly what they're doing for me. I'm waiting to hear back from 1 of 3 dealers, varying from 220-350 miles to see if they will do the trade. Even though the trade is going to suck cause they get to drive the car back, i think its better then waiting between 3-5 months for the car....

That sucks. I on the other hand really do not wish to take delivery until aug-september so ordering me one is ideal. I just cant find a dealer willing to do it.

Any dealer who does not want to order a car specifically built to your specs is just flat out not worth your time and money. Since when did Nissan changed its operating procedures to that of Honda? I would tell them thanks for narrowing your search of dealers down and walk right out the door. Remember, you are the buyer; you are in total control of the whole process. Don't let them leverage the fact that they don't have the exact car you want. Walk and find someone else. As for driving the car 300+ miles to their dealer... I would laugh in their face. You gotta be tough man, and don't ever let them swindle you into something you don't like. Have an attitude like if they don't have it and can't source it and deliver as you want, then you are not buying..AT ALL.

Of course they dont want to order one for you. They want to move the ones they have on the lot. Period.

If you can find one you want at another dealer, why not try to strike a deal with them, even if is means having to drive a few hundred miles to get it? That way you eliminate the dealer trade and them getting to abuse (drive) it before you even get it.

And like others have said...a car is a huge expenditure so if you are spending that kind of money you should get things done to your exact specifications, under your terms. Tell them anything short of that and youll go somwhere else. Its surprising some dealers still dont want to work with people, even though they need a sale a lot more than you probably need a new car.

Don't want to burst your bubble, but if you do in fact get one ordered, I wouldn't count on getting it in 90 days either, especially with the lower projected sales numbers and production cutbacks. I was going to go the same route after the dealer couldn't locate one with my specs in the entire midwest and then I got the standard 2-3 month wait speech for an order and I decided to hold off for now. If you order you are at the complete mercy of Nissan and I dont want to be in that situation.

Is there any way to search Nissan's new car inventory or statewide to see which dealer has the 370Z setup you want?

In theory, if you are buying a new car from a dealer, does it really matter which dealer you buy it from. Aside from the shipping costs (if you live in a diff state), there really is no risk. Is there?

I mean, a new 370Z from any dealer will all be the same.

Why wait for a new car order. Just find the dealer that has your car and give them a call.

Default Ordering Takes Longgggg Time!

According to my local decal, new orders are going to take 8 months for delivery. Much better off to find one already here and then deal with vpp pricing through one of the offerings on this board. Good luck.

Maybe Autotrader or Cars.com would work better.

The very first dealer that I talked to refused to order as well. They said they have never ordered cars in the past and will not do it now. I just said Thanks, the next day I went to another dealer and ordered one.

Maybe they're so used to selling the cars they have that there is no incentive for them to order for you.
