NISMO Z ordering question discussion
So it's looking like I'll be able to factory order my 2012 NISMO Z in mid-late august of this year. What's with the color selections?
My first choice was black cherry metallic (not listed), 2nd was blue (not listed). What's the deal? Will the factory just flat out refuse to use certain colors on the NISMO trim? If so, any idea why? I guess if I'm backed into a corner I'll get it in red and then I'll have to start taking bets on how many speeding tickets I end up with over the next few yeras.... They make the Nismo in 5 colors only.

Thanks. Looking like either black or white will be the way I go with it. Disappointed the NISMO car only comes with the same stock sound system the base has. Guess that'll be my first project.

First, I notice you're from MD. You should come check out the Mid-Atlantic Z Owners Club at one of our meets. Details are in the Mid-Atlantic section of the forum. Also, I know a number of Nismo owners who felt the same about their radio. TROOPER and birdmanx1 both got aftermarket sound setups in their Zs. You may want to ask them who they went with and what they got. |

I'm actually a member of the Maryland Z club currently. I will check out the mid-atlantic site.
I've done a lot of work to my base Z: -Pioneer touchscreen nav head unit (AVIC something) -Alpine Amp -Both door and dash Speakers replaced with small infinitys (6x9s don't fit for some reason) -Custom fiberglass subwoofer mount + pioneer sub fitted to spare tire enclosure (inside the spare, it's pretty cool) I can't seem to get a good handle on what sort of head unit you get with the NISMO car. It's definitely not the base because it's dash-mounted and appears to have navigation. Problem is that spot won't fit a double DIN head unit so I'm not sure what else you could put there. Maybe it won't need a head unit and will only need new speakers + amp (would be easier anyway). Also configuring the car on Nissan's site is somewhat of a puzzle. It's not really clear what you get. Is there a full sized spare? Does it come with NISMO floormats? Can I get the new daytime LED running lights like the touring model has? None of these things are options but the site doesn't tell you what comes standard. Last edited by dmhenderson; 07-07-2011 at 10:51 AM. |

The NISMO comes with the standard 4 speaker head unit that comes in the base. Nav is not an option with the NISMO. Check out the comparison PDF that should clear things up for you. Greg http://www.nissanusa.com/st/nissan/p...1_Nissan_Z.pdf

Haha man I'm going to have to do all that audio work over again (bluetooth, XM receiver, Iphone jack, steering wheel controls).
Any idea on the full sized spare? The pdf doesn't mention it and the base model has a donut while I'm pretty sure touring and sport do. I guess I'll have to wait and see if there are any option changes on the 2012 NISMO trim before I make up my mind. Seems kinda silly that they don't allow for the tech/nav package in their high-end trim. I mean I get that it's a track car but still. |

I mean I know it's going to be more cost-effective in the long run to buy the NISMO car and take care of the interior via aftermarket parts than to buy the touring car and spend tons of cash on the exterior aftermarket stuff (body kit, wing, exhaust, LSD, suspension etc) but man taking the dash off that car is a huge pain in the ***.

Also, keep in mind the PDF link and the Nissan site is listing that information on 2011 models, not sure if any of that will change for 2012. Greg
