Ordered 2011 370Z today!

Been lurking on this board for nearly two years now and finally made the move today, after searching unsuccessfully for a car for months. Ordered a new 2011 coupe in gun metallic with touring + sport package + nav, and of course, a proper 6MT. Thanks to Danny@Fontana for the help.

Z_ealot 06-28-2011 07:27 PM

umm, thats cool...just curious though as to why you didnt take a look at the 2 Touring+sport package Z in gun metallic that they have sitting on their lot according to their website? oh and forgot to add they are both MT

pedZ 06-28-2011 08:00 PM

He didn't take them because the ones on the lot don't have nav.

Congrats Nixlimited! I have the exact setup you ordered and love it. Good choice on the MT.

Z_ealot 06-28-2011 08:29 PM

ohh, gotcha...good choice regardless though Nix :) i know im pretty excited myself too as my Z will be arriving within the next 4 weeks at Fontana :D

Nixlimited 06-28-2011 09:39 PM

Right, NAV has been a real issue to find. While there aren't many options for this car, it seems like VERY few have all of the options. After looking for months for what I wanted, I finally just gave up and ordered one. VERY excited.

well that sucks, i wonder why it got bumped? i know i've been in contact with Danny@Fontana and mine is due to arrive next week, still at least they let you know about it unlike some other dealers i have heard about on these forums.

I think there are still issues stemming from the tsunami. I don't really know. I just can't believe it's gonna be damn near a year of trying to buy one by the time I get it.

Daves350z 08-04-2011 06:44 PM

Picking up my Black 11 roadster on Saturday. Black top 7at sport and nav. Looks like the dealer just got it very recently, and I was lucky enough to snag it, close or at invoice!

Roadsters have been generally more easy to come by. Congratulations on your new ride! I am jealous.

Well, I'm not saying I told you so, but if we could bet money on this and it would make any difference, I'd bet I was right all along, that your order never actually got placed. I'd bet that you didn't get bumped, the dealer never actually ordered it because they have yet to get an allocation. I'd bet your dealer said "sure, we can order one for you," knowing at some point they would get an allocation. They took your money so you wouldn't go elsewhere. Since they haven't gotten one yet, now they are lying to you about being bumped. Very typical of a dealership practices. Of course this is just me betting, but I'm pretty certain it's a safe bet.

Are all your relations with your dealer verbal, or do you actually have an official Nissan computer generated order form thing, with code#'s etc etc.? Not a dealer order form all filled out, but a Nissan computer print out. If you have that, then I'd probably lose my bet. If you don't, and the dealer can't provide it to you, then I win. Trust me.

What I can tell you for sure is with 100% certainty is that no dealer in the Dayton Cincinnati Columbus area of Ohio has gotten an order allocation for June, July or August. None. I have checked with every major dealer, and some small ones. Knowing that the recent cars they have gotten in the past 2 months were ordered in February & March, I'd make a strong guess that they also weren't able to order a car in April or May either. Now I know this is just this area, but again, I'd be willing to bet that it's all dealers everywhere. I think the tsunami hit in March, and the 370Z production has STILL not yet recovered. This is a low volume low profit margin car for Nissan, so it's getting last priority. All the talk about jumping to 2012 models makes me think they just stopped making Z's altogether while they put all their resources into other cars.

I wish we had an inside man on this forum from Japan that could tell us the dirt. That way we wouldn't have to speculate.

Hate to say "i told you so" but for one, as per another thread where the OP responded, they never took any deposit from him to begin with and add to that....i ordered my Z from the same dealer and just got a call from them today saying that it got delivered today. Yes i will admit alot of dealers will do the whole take your deposit and hold it hostage thing, but Fontana Nissan is not one of them as i never had to put down a deposit on mine either when i ordered it back at the beginning of May.

Thanks for the kind words Z-ealot. We have placed numerous Z orders for forum members without deposit and that is not the reason why we didn't order Nixlimited's Z. Nixlimited's order has been placed but got canceled a couple of weeks later due to nav shortage issue. With that being said, all orders with Nav will get delayed for a short period of time. We spoke to our Nissan rep recently and they are trying to resolve this issue ASAP.

Speaking of which ... I still need a Z Danny! Get on it :tiphat:

I heard last week that it's coming in December. In the mean time I have been looking pretty seriously at used 996TTs. If there is any more delay, I may switch camps.

Wow, I can't believe the NAV unit can be such an important factor to some, when others like me think it's just an over priced glorified toy map. Please understand, I mean no disrespect to you or anyone else who can't live without it or just want it because of what ever reason. But even if I could afford $2000 for such a thing, which I can't or won't, I would not let it sway me versus the rest of the car's awesomeness, even if I were getting something more expensive like a Cayman S or a Vette. I think this Z is kick *** as a base, let alone with the Sport Package.

Priorities vary I guess, and that's totally cool. I was not about to pay Nissan's ridiculous $4500 asking price for 2 heated leather seats and a "merely adequate" Bose radio. I never use my heated seats in my Murano, and in that when I got leather it was 5 people worth of seats. I'm also an audiophile of sorts, and Bose means nothing to anyone in the audiophile world (they basically suck to most). No no, I'll stick with cloth, and for $500 - $600 I'll have a 6" back up camera and a stereo that at least equals that Bose. If I get new speakers later, it will smoke that Bose.

Now, I WOULD pay extra for the COOLED seats the roadster has.

Has anyone converted the cooled seats over into a coupe yet???????? ;)

Nixlimited 10-21-2011 10:47 AM

Yeah, for me NAV is a deal breaker. I use it all the time in my other cars due to an innate poor sense of direction. Also, I think aesthetically the NAV unit is much nicer. I really dislike the pocket area on the non-NAV cars. I would just go aftermarket, but then I would have a NAV that I would have to stare down at the shift knob to see. It is an expensive "luxury," but oh well, may as well get what you want if you are spending a bunch of coin. With all that said, Nissan / Infiniti does make one of the nicest NAV systems I have seen as an OEM.

krzykanuk 10-21-2011 11:19 AM

I love my NAV and heated red leather seats. However, when I bought my Murano I opted out of paying the extra $ for leather seats and NAV as it just didn't seem worth it.

Update from the dealership today: ETA week of December 9th!

awkwardturtle 11-29-2011 12:09 AM

That's my birthday. You bastard, you're getting my present!!

zero 11-29-2011 12:27 AM

December 9th is just around the corner. Hope to see your z around the SoCal area.

007MI6 11-29-2011 09:14 AM

Woot! :happydance:

I'm with you on the nav too. It was tough finding one, but I was finally able to snag one as soon as it came state-side and got on a train. Definitely worth it! I love my nav system. I just want to buy that bypass kit that is on site here. I hate the safety features...:icon14:

Absolutely! I was very involved with the M3 and STi communities previously. I can't wait to get back into meets, DEs, rallys, etc.

Yeah, hard to believe I waited almost a year to get the NAV system, but oh well, looks like that's all about done! Let me know if you have a link to the bypass equipment. I hate "safety" features too.

Looks like here is the place to get that: Nissan 370z - Car Kit Company
This appears to be another option: Prestigious Society Navigation and Video Enhancement Module

Nixlimited 12-14-2011 09:39 AM

Update: my car has arrived!!! 5 miles on the ODO. I will be going up to sign paperwork on Saturday, but then I have to wait until after I get back from Christmas to pick it up since I am having the brakes redone right at Fontana's race shop. Big thanks to Danny@Fontana for all his help throughout the process.

Nixlimited 12-17-2011 05:09 PM

Saw her for the first time today! Paid for, but couldn't pick up unfortunately. First round of mods start now!

Edit: figured it out!

What are they going to do to brakes?

Upgrading pads, SS lines, fluid, and slotted rotors - https://www.nissanraceshop.com/produ...70zbrakestreet

Also switching to 40th anniversary calipers because I much prefer the red color.

The brakes are one place this car is very weak from the factory and since I plan to do DEs and such, I thought I would go ahead and tackle them. I may eventually end up doing a BBK, but I figured I should get to a point where I really needed them first. I think this upgrade will buy me some time.
