whats the most i should pay for a brand new one?

I just bought this exact model in California for $38,844 before TTL if that helps at all.

I'm also in Cali and paid $38,600 for the exact same thing.

If you find a dealer with one in stock, I highly suggest putting in their zip code in zag.com's tool to see if they are a partner. If so you will usually get a really great price. The highest I have seen in my neck of the woods is invoice. Benton Nissan is $1899 below invoice. Granted these are prices for in stock vehicles, so you are subject to the limited availability at the said dealership.
