Should I hold out until production halt ends?
I live in Toronto, Canada. I went to a couple dealerships to test drive the Nissan 370z Coupe (which I am certain is to be my next car). I want to keep my 2009 Civic Si as a winter car and keep this thing as my summer stunner. =P Anyways, the dealership told me that production has halted / slowed and that there is a back order for the 370's. I asked about pricing, etc and he told me $48,000 flat no negotiations. Should I hold out until the production halt ends and hope for some pricing negotiations from the dealerships? What do you guys think? I want my car specifically with the orange leather, black paint etc etc .

That seems way too high, just negotiate him down. They're just try to build up the price, pretty much demand base pricing. Just wait a little, it will go down.

Don't know where your dealer is getting their news from but according to Nissans own coporate website there has been no production halt to speak of since they got their manufacturing lines back up and running towards the beginning of May. There may be shortages on parts for cars which may slow production, but i think the dealer you talked to is just playing it safe and covering their collective behinds if ya know what i mean. I myself was luckily able to have a dealer get a Z into production run of June for me, to be delivered in late July/early August. According to the dealer i went through though they had to pull a few strings at Nissan corporate to get my Z into the production run.

Yeah, I know. I guess i should wait it out a little bit. I dont know about the production halt either. Sounded sketchy.

Demand is high, supply is low. Can't order a 2011 anymore. You can wait until the 2012 models come out in the fall, but there's going to be a backlog, and I'll bet you pretty close to sticker if and when you are finally able to get one.

damn... how long of a wait do you think i would need for 2012's?

I got my 2009 6MT / Sport for 41k + Taxes and was very happy with that deal. Need more info on the figure 48k before I can comment on the price, but I'm sure you can get a way better deal, and any dealer who throws out a number and says no negotiations, is so full of B.S. I would turn around and walk right out the door. |
They offered me that much for the BASE. Sport package would be $52,000. =(. Looks like you got a good deal. I would jump on 41 + tax any day haha

Honestly, go buy a 2010, you'll get a good price and there's been nothing added to the 2011 that warrants paying a premium. |
If i can find one, I definitely will heh.

Also, how worth it is the sport package? I like the upgrade in the rims / synchro rev match and the little spoiler is cute but, is it worth the $4,000?

Alright, sport package it is. Although, I was wondering if the Synchro Rev Match is as good as advertised?
