Long Lead Time for New Car Orders !!
Just got off the phone from my dealer and discussing my car order put in January. I now have a VIN#.
The bad news in the discussion was that the dealer is now quoting an 8 month lead time on new car orders. |

Nissan cut the product on the 370z by a bunch. So it's possible you will be waiting longer.

But for a order placed in January he should be good I think even orders placed in the beginning of February.

I'm OK

New orders are at risk of 8 month order times. |

I ordered one yesterday and was told 2 to 3 months delivery time from the factory. But it didn't sound very convincing, it was more like they quoted me a standard lead time, not Z specific. So I will call them regularly to check...
The problem for us in the states is that the Z is being introduced around Europe at this time as well, so I assume this will limit the propduction capacity for US spec cars. On the other hand, they are in crisis as well, so hopefully there will not be too many buyers out there |

I think a real part of the problem is that Nissan is cutting back it's production schedule based on forward year sales forecast. I read somewhere that the forecast was cut from 30k vehicles this year worldwide to 10k. Some 3k of those production are to go to Europe. That leaves 7k for the rest of the world with the majority coming to the US.

Waiting even 3-4 months is ridiculous (let alone 8 months!)
Some dealers have none of these things (their choice) and would like you to think that's just the way it is with these hard to get Zs... That's total BS. Fontana Nissan in Calif is advertising $3000 off sticker on all '09 Zs and they have..... "26 available". Catch a $59 redeye to LA and drive the thing home for cry'noutloud! The exact spec, color and option combo I want is not in stock. (not even at Fontana, I just checked :-) ) I only get to spend 40K once, so I want to make sure I get exactly what I want and I don't mind if that means I have to wait a bit. I just hope it will not take more then 3 months.
