That's probably about right. Where did you get those numbers from? Black Book?

Percentage Margins are very helpful in determining how much a dealer purchases a car for their inventory. Though never accurate, these are mere estimates.

Dealership Estimated Margin of Profit

Large Mark up percentages on initial purchase price

3-4% profit from Financing (example: They make $900-$1200 in $30,000 that is Financed.

2-3% Manufacture floor or hardback incentives from MSRP (around $720)

3% Profit margin for Dealer Fees (For 370z $1000 profit is not uncommon)

Brand name. 370z have a strong brand name. Dealers keep these cars overpriced and sometimes order a fewer amount to control and tighten their inventory costs. Making these cars more overvalued

NOTE: No dealer will not sell at their true cost or near it. It is counterproductive on their sales philosophy and or goals. It is not something you should aim to do as well. The costs of running a dealership are significant. So it's important for them to maintain healthy sales margins.

Unless you have some kinda connection to the dealership, I can't see how you could get a touring + sport + nav for that price.

Is this the net price after trade?

No ties to the dealership, no trade but I'm putting about 15k down on it and financing for 72 months. No early payment penalties so when the first payments made after I buy the car, the month after that I plan on just paying off the rest of the car.

Profit Nissan Dealers try to Obtain from each major sale. $8000 to $10,000. Typical profits range from $5000 to $7000 with Savy buyers. You can push them down to making $4,000 profit if you are a really good negotiator.

What??

We make 1000.00 if we sell the car at invoice. Which I would love too.

I just had to run out and order mine in the begining of jan 09. Before i had ever seen the car in real life. I was a blonde **** hair away from buying the 350 nismo, when i found some real pics and info on the 370. I had to have it, so like a dummy i went in with LARGE cashdown payment that did nothing by the way, ordered it and after TTL and the other bs. I walked out with no car, none made in the package i wanted PW/7AT tour/sport for 40K, monthly payment of 320. I know you can do better, i just couldn't wait so i had to pay the price.

Published Invoice prices aren't the invoice prices dealers are purchasing the cars for. Such as Edmunds, Kellyblue book, etc. These are third party sources, that base their estimates from other sources than the actual dealerships. Maybe statistics on the average selling price customers pay, plus any other stats that are highly inaccurate.

True Dealer Cost is very confidential and one can only see in the accounting books of an auto dealership. Because you would have to take into consideration many other factors such as financing leverage, how many cars sell, how many are ordered, etc.

Nobody can obtain the 'true' dealer cost..not even the sales employees.
