Buying a used 2009 Z
Hello,
This is one of my first posts so just bare with me for now. Currently there is a dealer about 100 miles from me with a White Sport Touring used 2009 370z. the car has 15,000 miles on it and is priced at 29,994. Two things... what should i looked out for when purchasing a used car... the car has no mods on it at all. Also is 29994 a decent price for that model with that many miles and do you think they will come down at all on the price? thanks, kholy |

Check for ECU whine when the car is on. It either happens all of the time or it is intermittent. Either way it's annoying as hell and makes your ears want to bleed. It comes from the kickplate on the passenger side area. If you can't hear it facing straight ahead, usually you will pick it up when you turn your head to the left facing the side mirror. Check wheels for damage. Check to make sure all of the body panels line up right. Make sure the paint on different panels matches. Just general stuff to make sure it was never in an accident. Try to drive a brand new one to compare how the two cars drive, just to make sure the '09 is in good working order. Usually I'd recommend a 2010+ because all the first model year issues were worked out. You can definitely come down on that price.

I paid mine for $28k+TTL last week.
2009 T+S with around 5k miles on it. And I agree with Steve, the high pitch whine is somehow very bothering if you can hear it. The hatch springs are not problem since the dealership will replace them for free. |

Show them some comparisons of similar models that are cheaper.
I know for a fact that the dealer near me has a Black Cherry 2010 T/S listed for 33,000, so I know you could even bargain down from that. So if you could get a comparable NEW 2010 for ~32,000 after negotiation. Im pretty sure that a new 2009 would be in the 29-30k range. A used 2009 with 15,000 you should do like 27k.

when you look at the car, nit pick it to death...my car was new and had a couple of little scratches here and there, that I made sure to be known to the dealer... also remember that nissan only sells ~10k of these a year... the dealer knows these cars arent going anywhere for the most part and they want to sell them...especially '09's. also, gas prices are going up with the egypt/libya conflict...so sport cars are REALLY not going to sell. and the MOST important thing is that you know more than the dealer...don't let them try and "outsmart" you...99% of them are dirtbags and will tell you whatever you WANT to hear to get a sale. And if they give you an attractive price...(for this car should be less than 24), tell them you walking if you see Bullsh*t fees. They'll give you a great price, and then charge you an internet fee, a looking at the car fee, a saturday fee..etc.. just be smart and dont rush... a lot of times if you make an offer and they refuse, just walk out and they will call you back.... i got a call the other day about a Z i looked at over a month ago, and they were willing to further lower the price. |

i wouldnt..if they know you had to drive 110 miles to get there and 110 miles to get home theyre gonna know you want THAT car, and your negotiating isnt going to go as well...I wouldnt tell them where your from untill you get an offer you want and your buying the car....unless its close by of coarse... but yea, having the dealer know you have a 220 mile commute is goign to hurt

I don't own one, but from reading what others have bought their Z for that is quite high.
Look at another dealership for comparison. GL
