Mid Life
Alright, here is my story. I haven't bought a new vehicle in almost 9 years. I love my truck and it only has 85k miles on it but, I got the itch.
A few months ago I started thinking about a second vehicle. Would it be something practical and fuel efficient ie inexpensive or something fun. I started focusing in on 350Zs and G35s. They look good are fast and can be found pretty cheap. Good ones under 20$ Then one day a few weeks ago I was crossing an intersection and stopped there was a Pearl White 370Z that dropped my jaw. I thought omg what the f*ck is that. Don't know why I had not noticed the difference in style between 350s and 370s. Now I am obsessed. I have been searching the whole country online and locally looking for the perfect slightly used 370Z. I want Graphite, Touring, Sport with Persimmon. Tranny is flexible. The perfect one is available locally at the dealer. It's a 40th and new so the price is a big obstacle. An hour away is an 09 Pearl White (the color that originally got my attention but now my second choice) Touring, Sport, with Persimmon and automatic, with under 5K miles for 33$ out the door. My delema is that if I want Graphite and everytime I walk up to my car I will see Pearl. Pearl is great but not perfect for me. One the other hand the Persimmon is not at all common. The 40th is out of the question unless they will come off the price 5 grand (unlikely) There is actually a 40th for sale near by with very low miles for 31K but it has Red leather (not my style) Should I hold out for the perfect car which may never become available or go for the Pearl White. I'm heading out today to look at both the 40th and the Pearl. I'll let you know what happens. |

You can get these cars well below invoice if you do your homework. You could even contact one of the supporting dealers on the forum to see if they have any inventory for you.

Yeah, not being rude, but I would not pay that. I got my 2009 Platinum Graphite, with 7 speed, touring, sport with nav, and it was something like 31 after everything was said and done. I got it in May of last year.

the 40th anniversary only come with the red interior so you would be looking at something else. Good luck though and definitely hit up some of the supporting dealers. Even with a delivery charge they could probably save you alot (based on what your saying!) |

I saw a 40th in Houston on line last week but the pics made the interior look very red and I didn't like it. I went to the local dealer today to look at their 40th because I loved it when I looked at it a few days ago and thought it had persimmon leather. When I realized it was red and I liked it I immediately called the dealer about the used one.
They were righting a contract on it that very minute. Asking $31,991 Miles 9785 Me Bummed |

The good thing is that these cars look great in EVERY color, so no matter what you end up with you should be happy. I'd say the first thing you worry about would be the tranny, manual vs. auto is VERY different.
The second point is definitely don't rush to buy one, it took me over a year to get mine and I think it was well worth the wait. Finding yourself with buyer's remorse on a purchase over $30k is not a good thing. Lastly... the Z WILL get you laid, so if you find yourself high 'n dry during this crisis, you should definitely pull the trigger!

Here is my advice. If you want a certain spec Z, then go for it. Why settle for something that isn't perfect in your eyes? When I went to order my Z, I couldn't find what I wanted, and I'm not going to compromise on something that should be as simple as this. I think the 350z is just too plain looking compared to a 370z. The 350 can pass for a 2 door sedan, where as the 370 is undeniably a sports car. |

Actually I am neutral on the tranny. For me both have pluses and minuses for me. I know ya'll.....no stick no sale.....but for me I have had enough sticks that I'm tired on shifting and the auto that I drove today did do my one priority...HAUL ASSSS The laid thing could be a problem, I'm married almost 20 years. |
