Well, I just swung by the dealer a few hours ago and talked to the manager. He said that Nissan first told them March release, this was about a month ago. Then they started pushing it back to April and there were even some talks of May. But, here are the good news people. As of this week, Nissan announced a January release with a possibility of early February.

Secondly, I asked about putting some money down to get in front of the line for buying and he said OK, that would be fine. I then told him I was very good friends with someone who bought 6 of the 12 GT-R's they got and gave him my card and all of the sudden the BS stopped and he just told me that he would give me a call as soon as he heard one was coming in so I could go look at it in the warehouse before anyone else.

So January boys and girls.

Yeah, I knew whats on Nissan's site too, but if you've been following what everyone's been saying about what dealers are telling them both on this and other forums, as well as to some magazines and e-zines, you might be a little concerned that Nissan may have overstated the proximity of their release date. After all, why tell dealers they are going to be getting the new z 3 months later than they are actually?

So we didn't really know it was January, lots of people had serious doubts including me.

Also, we now know that they are shooting for a late jan early feb release. I'll take the congrats though for my heroic feat of going to a dealer and asking.

Good info and I DO give you props for going to your dealership. I'm scared of them. I'm scared to go there, ask questions or even get something fixed for my Z.

The Z is coming out in January. If any delays, maybe February the latest.

I am certain, Dealers are quite aware of the fact that the 370z is coming out soon. The reason they are playing "dumb" is the fact that they now have a "lame duck" model on their lots right now with the 350z.

They still have to sell through all of their 350z stock before they want to hype up the new model. A customer looking for a new car will probably not want the "old" model if a new shiny better version is right around the corner. So rather than losing a potential sale or having to sell a car on their lot for much cheaper than msrp they just play "dumb."

That's my story... and I am sticking to it.

i concur.
same sh*t happened to me & my bro, we went to mitsu dealer back in 07, knowing that the evo x was coming out. they were still listing then 1 yr old eco ix above msrp.... and talking bs about how evo ix will be a rare item...this and that.. so he just ended not not buying that....
few months ago he got an X!

Well its my theory, and because that is what I would do if I was in the business of selling vehicles. Keep in mind that these people want to make money. Telling you everything about the new product is not in their best interest currently because they still have old inventory. They want to make money and lots of it. The longer they have the "old" model on their lots the more money they will lose because they cannot charge full msrp for the cars.

This is only temporary, however. As soon as all of their 350z inventory is gone or close to it, they will change their tune. Then, all of a sudden they will be experts about the new model.

Car Dealers are also not the only ones that behave this way. Pretty much everyone in sales that gets commission kick backs from a sale of a product will tell you whatever necessary so it benefits "them" and not you. Unless they are a close personal friend or a family member, don't be naive to think that they EVER have your best interest at heart.
