Looking at a 370z, any major reason to choice 6spd or auto?

Besides the obvious differences, any technical issues to choose one over the other. I know some other vehicles I looked at had issues with the transmission of one of the two, for instance. In my lurking I havent read anything major about 6spd issues but again, just wanted to clarify

Also I was looking at the Sport Model, or Maybe Sport/Touring but either way, it would have the extra blip thing on the 6spd (if it makes any difference to this discussion)

Thanks again!

i prefer the auto because u can do ither auto or manual its just as fast it may be a tad less powerfull may a few horses but its quicker gear changes and i do mostly city driveing so its much more fun to drive havent had any issues outta it yet

Without this thread boiling down to a religious war...

No, I don't believe that there are any significant tech issues that should sway you one way or another. I could be wrong, and you should search the tech forums on this site to double check that. But I think you should buy whatever one you enjoy driving more.

Personally, and this is just my opinion, I love manual transmission, and I try to buy every car with a manual. It's just how I like to drive. Nothing wrong with automatics, though.

And I believe that the 7AT is faster than the 6MT in a head-to-head drag race.

i was raised in auto... and i know thaey are fun... like shado said try to drive 1 of each... auto is better for city driveing manual is best for highway but they both can be used in manual mode how ever the auto does not have sport launch.. but i dont think that maters with the auto

any plans to turbo or super charge?

No big technical problems either way. Personal preference.

nah, minimal mods this go around. I have a SRT4 now which is heavily modded, but Im tired of working on the car I guess. Maybe just getting old :)

Go test drive both. I went in with the mindset of 6MT or nothing and came out an owner of a 7AT. I just didn't like the clutch of the 6MT. Just my preference.

6MT hands down. The synchro rev match was enough for me to make the leap over to a manual tranny. I've driven autos all my life and just loved the Z in stick better and yes I did test drive both.

So does any other auto that has "manual" mode...

It really depends on the who's driving the 6spd. The AT will require less skill, although if I had to settle for an auto, the one in this Z is not really a compromise.

Actually most autos don't rev match and use the slip but with the aggressive lock-up on the Z it needs the rev match.
