Looking for some input

Alright, here is my situation. I really want to get a new 40th Z, but they are hard to find new (or used) right now. The closest one to me is about 250 miles away and I've contacted the general sales manager and he is offering it to me for a pretty good OTD price, $36,100. The problem is, from what he has told me on the phone, the best he can offer for my trade is $10,500. Which, IMO, is absolutely hosing me.

Not sure if I should just give up on trying to get a 40th (I don't really have a desire to buy a used one) or try to figure something else out. I'm going to go to Carmax this weekend to just get another # on my car. I could also try selling it on my own, but that could turn hairy if the dealer sells the 40th before I sell mine. There's also the issue of driving 250 miles to go get it.

Let me know what you think.

Depends on how much you owe on your current vehicle.. paid off? Its only money it aint real.. what if you die in a week? At least you can look back and say "damn at least i drove a badass Z" this is irrelevant lol. Do what you want man!

I owe like 6500 on my current Z, so I'm not upside down, but i still don't want to do anything where I'm getting ripped off on my car. I love my 350z and I know its worth alot more than 10,500, especially after looking around on craigslist/autotrader for comparables.

Would getting the 40th before you sell your car be an option? Carmax's offer is good for 7 days, maybe 14 days. I can't remember exactly. Either way this would give you time to go pick up the 40th. I will tell you that Carmax will low ball you on their offer.

How far off is the Nissan offer from where you want to be?

There is a difference between what the KBB/Nada/Blackbook value say and between the demand or market value of your car. If you want what your car is worth the only way to get that is probably through a private sale.. which takes time... which you probably dont have with the 40th. Talk to the dealership, let them know your interested (but not dieing to have it) and tell them to give you a reasonable offer on your car... is you carfax clean???

Carmax will probably offer average trade-in for your car. They aren't about to give you retail value. They have to make money also.

the dealer is also gonna low ball you up front to see if your stupid enough to fall for it. when i traded in my TL for my Z they originally offered me 11k for it.. when i told them id go to another dealer and get a Z they said wait ill go see what I can do... came back 5 mins later and offered my 15.7k for my trade in.. just gotta haggle man they will deff give u more.. whats your nada guide value???

guys thanks for the responses. NADA has it for 14,650 with my mileage and an average trade in. He has come up to 11,100 on the trade in, but said thats as far as he can go which makes it $2,100 below the rough trade-in.

i donno, 05 350z, right? 10500 i kinda on the low side but i dont think it's too far off from real world trade-in prices.

There's a sweet *** 40th at Nashville Nissan that I went and drove last week. It's been sitting on the lot and the 11's are about to hit, so i'd call em up and try to strike a deal.

They have done those stupid Dealer Add-On's to it, but yiou can refuse to pay for them and they will take it all off the price. They just Tint windows and put locking lugs on and charge like $1000 for it. They spend like $20 doing it, so they don't mind to take it off the price if you bitch at em.
