just found a 2009 touring + sport, 6spd, 8k, no nav. He is asking 29,300 which is exactly what autotrader reccomends based on what others are asking for similar cars.

i was kinda thinking the same thing. I was considering offering him 26.5k as an opening offer but im not sure if that would be too low. its a difference of $2,800.
Is that too low? Ive never negotiated with an individual for a car before, so im not sure how low he might be able to go... |

well it is a touring w/ sports package. so.. i think 27.5 or 28 would be good.
and have him give you 5 yr warranty on powertrain and all that good stuff on top. Last edited by shoopajae10; 10-26-2010 at 02:12 PM. Reason: EDIT: sorry nm about the warranty. haha i thought you were buying from a dealer. |

heres my problem..
Say i got it for 28k. I can find base +sport w/ 20k for $26,900. A difference of $1100 for leather and 12k less miles. That sounds like a great deal except... insurance for a touring model is $25mo more than a base model. They could not explain why. So, thats and extra $300yr or $1500 through the entire loan.... |

There was a guy here that was going to buy or bought a brand new one for $29K touring 09 with like 147 miles.
It still 09, but is their money and that is what most of the books prices says, especially if is from a dealer.

$25mo more!? thats some crazy ****!!
but yeah some guy in the other thread bought a brand new touring model for 28k including tt&l at the dealership. cars usually cost more at a dealership compared to those that are selling privately. It also didnt come with sports package either which is like 3k MSRP. |

yea, i was just reading that post.
I think the problem might lie in the fact that the market for these used cars(at least the asking price) is higher than what many are getting these for. Also, this guy might have bought it for just under MSRP, so in his mind, his offer might sound like a good deal. not everyone is an educated consumer One thing that lead me to this assumption is when you go to sell a car on autotrader, they give you a reccomended price to sell your car at (based on that others asking price is, dealer and private) i think. Anyways, he chose that price exactly. Also, he picked the featured selling option so i think he wants this gone.... any thoughts?? |

I agree that $28k is the ceiling. This dealership is having trouble moving their 09 Touring with 405 miles for $24,750. They have been relisting this car for a few weeks now. No reserve though. So considering that the sport package was like $2800 for the 09 MY, $27,500 should be reasonable.
