I have never purchased a car through a private sale but I wouldn't be afraid to do it. With the car being a 2009 the remainder of the manufacture warranty

With the car being a 2009 the remainder of the manufacture warranty should be transferable to the new owner. But, yeah I do agree that 15K on a weekend only car is quite high.
