Hes asking $27,800, which he saus is under bb value.

I have always gone to a dealer to buy a car and was curious on the process to buy a car from an individual, especially one this expensive.

Is there more room for negotiations?
Is this process complicated? going to the dmv, ect...

Obvisously, i would get the car checked out before purchasing it, i would probably take it to a nissan dealership and have them take a look, cost??

im really uncertain on how all this works....

Thanks!!
Ok, I literally just went through a private party sale and it was a pain in the ***!!! What made it worse, the car was 200 miles away. I will say, however, I feel like i got a great deal. It doesn't look like you are going to get an awesome deal with this one, though. I paid the price you listed but got a 2010 with sport, Stillen CBE, illuminated kick plates, splash guards, mats, windows tinted, and 4 coats of wax.

The only reason I had so much trust in the person was he was a forum member here!

The problem is that if the seller has the car financed, you have to pay his bank. After the bank is paid, they release the title. From the time between you paying off his car to you getting the title will be many weeks. Anything could happen during this time. I'll let your imagination fill in blanks. Even after i got the title, there was something wrong with it, but the guy was a gentleman and got it fixed up for me, it wasn't until I had license plates on it that I felt relieved.

Craigslist can be a sketchy place and the paperwork is a lot more for private party. Again, I lucked out, but that was a rough month of anxiety. Good luck let us know what you decide.

And yes, there is always room for negotiation.
