What's up with the prices on untitled, <20 mile, 2009 370z's?

Anyways lurker here who's tired of dealing with ball joints blowing out out on my G8 GT and tired of back seat that I haven't used once since I don't have any friends...so I decided to look into switching into something else.

In my search for finding a good deal I came across 3 different dealerships within ~30 miles of my house and they all have 2009 370z's on their lots...all of them in different options and whatnot and after asking them for a quote they all wouldn't dip below MSRP on them claiming "it's a limited production and rare vehicle" :wtf2: I don't get their reasoning behind that especially when they are fully stocked with 2010 Z's in both coupe and roadster variants...why wouldn't they let a leftover 2009 Z that's been on the lot for over a year for below MSRP? I'd prefer not to go up in car payments compared to my G8 so I thought looking at untitled last year vehicles would be a good start but apparently a 2009 370z with touring/sport in 6spd is 39000 dollars...the same as a equally equipped 2010 model.

Anyone else here who bought a last model Z this year experience something similar? I even practiced my haggling skills on that adorable capitalism game on Steam for weeks yet I still haven't gotten them to go below MSRP...is that a common occurrence with these vehicles or something? I know when I got my G8 GT last year they took 5000 off MSRP through GM bonus cash and another 3000 in "buy this car plz" cash.

You can also check with your local bank, FCU, USAA has a great program and your local tax office.

The best thing is to great pre-approved credit and sell your car to a private party.

Thanks, in my lurking I looked over those...I worked with a few dealers last year on my G8 and got an excellent deal on mine. I just don't get how so many people can get good deals on these vehicles when asking multiple dealers with numerous Z's on their lots they seemingly wont stray anywhere from MSRP.

I looked at the deal thread and it seems that everyone who's doing deals is out of state and I don't know anything about an out of state car buying experience..on top of where to take it for routine maintenance and whatnot. I certainly don't want to drive 100 miles to get my oil changed or to get my cabin filter replaced.

just take it to a local dealer.

There's tons of deals in VA. You can snag a base 09 for 25k before TT&F's all day.

That's about what I paid for my G8 and that would be excellent since that's about what my G8 is worth.

The only issue would be getting a buddy who drives stick to help me out of my 500 mile commute home. After only driving stick a few times and only owning automatic v6's or v8's I'm probably gonna make a fool out of myself driving it home and would rather not take a 500 mile trip of stalling and shifting into the wrong gear

I'm having a hard time believing this.....Almost every dealer I know around here will at least give you 3k off without any haggle...lol

Where in NY are you?

I'm right on the south/central shore and our lousy dealers aren't budging...maybe I'll have to look up north to get a deal.

You could always get a 7AT?

Maybe if they had a DCT option..but with a ~50 hp and over 100ft/lbs of torque drop I can't see it being as entertaining to drive...I guess I'll just learn how to properly drive stick.

where on earth did you come up with thos hp and torque losses? The AT has been proven to be quicker than the manual. :icon14:

I ran into the same thing. Some of the discounts some have claimed here on this site are pretty incredible. Every dealer I've ever talked to in person laughs when you ask for any kind of large discount on an unused Z. But there are plenty who claim fantastic deals over the internet. It's an interesting paradox.

Get on the Internet, find a deal and take it to you local dealer. Ask them to match it. If not, travel for the car you want. It will be worth it, trust me! I went close to 200 miles for mine (used 09 touring with 4k miles on it) to a dealership that was motivated to sell.

As posted earlier, you'll be taking the Z to your local dealer for service. Just don't expect smiles or a loaner!

Sorry I wasn't clear about that...I was talking about my G8 GT which makes significantly more power than the Z

I don't think they can be any worse than a GM dealership. If you like plastic lawn chair waiting rooms and service techs asking if your car that was sold there a few months prior is FWD or RWD is pretty sad.

They do give out Chevy HHR's as loaners though but after driving one I'd rather get a bicycle or walk. :roflpuke2:

You can buy Z's all day long at ivoice. As to your G8, I suspect it isn't worth much....Pontiac being out of business and all. They obviously bribed you with $$ to buy it. Don' expect it to be worth what you paid..
