i personally think its a stupid idea. same motor, almost same fun. G's are sexy. I love my Z and i love that i dont see any on the road, but you already have a great car with aftermarket parts readily available. U will probably lose alot if u trade in the G, but at the end of the day bro, ur driving the car, so its up to u. Having back seats is always convenient, and unless ur thinking about tracking the car often, I would be happy with what you got. I almost bought a G; its a great looking/performing car.

I wouldnt keep it , two reasons one the Z is more rare and much more attractive. two if you want to trade it in that means you want the Z more , so if you can do it!

At the moment, I am at a loss of words....People need to learn how to budget themselves better. OP must have a decent job to be able to afford a brand new fully loaded G. Which in my mind, you must have some sort of common sense / good decesion making skills to make the money that you have earned in order to have such a remarkable car. Face it, a fully loaded G isnt a cheap car, but having the nerve to ask if it is a good idea to trade it in only after having 3k miles on it. Grow up and take responsibility for your actions. You don't need the answers of complete strangers to make a decision that you can clearly make on your own.
I am honestly not trying to be mean or rude and I know this is car forum... but a question like this isn't even entitled to an answer. |

xbadgerx that was really uncalled for. If he works his *** off and wants to do that with his money and can afford it , who the hell are you to lecture him!!! Get over your self righteous self! As for not trying to be mean or rude you failed miserably

I would do two things:
1) ask myself what do I really want? If its a Z then I.... 2) consult with my bank account. If you really want a Z and you can afford to take a little hit then do it. I like the G37 but would not want one. I have no kids and no use of a back seat. To me the cars are very similar in some ways but way different in a number of important areas. If you are paying for one car and wishing you had another its kind of like wasting money there too. Good luck with your Z shopping.

question like that, sounds as if it is coming from a kid) 2. I know he must work his *** off to be able to afford a car like that. (fully loaded G) 3. In my mind, it sounded like a childish question to ask. I have no idea what his current finiancial status is. How could you, or I even begin to tell him if it is a good decision to do? 4. Facts are facts though, and everyone with any sense knows that he is going to be taking a huge loss on his G for the trade in. |

I think Ping needs to provide a bit more info for anyone to give a better response.
It is an accepted fact that if you sell your vehicle after 3 months of ownership, regardless of how low the miles are, you are going to take a hugh hit on the resale or trade-in value, especially in this economy. If Ping does not mind the hit and still wants the Z then by all means, it's his money, (or his parents money, I don't know), so he can do whatever he wants to with it. The conventional wisdom is that you shouldn't be changing out cars every 3 months because of the financial loss involved, however if that is not an issue, then by all means get what you want. Life is too short to make compromises and if you have the means then go for it. I think what XbadgerX is saying is that there is an association in terms of the thought process Ping had, where if you think that it is a good idea to sell so quickly after purchasing the G37 to get yourself into another vehicle, then perhaps the thought (or lack of) that went into the decision to get a 370Z so quickly is flawed as well. Which means that in 3 months Ping may decide that he needs the rumored 2010 STI with a 5spd Auto. Just the wording from XbadgerX was a bit harsh. |

I do not think it would be a financially prudent decision. You will likely take a significant loss on your G.
If your desire for the 370Z is great enough to offset the loss you will undoubtedly incur, then by all means go ahead and get the Z. If I were in your position, I would NOT get a Z because it is very similar to the G. The Z will be slightly lighter and not have back seats. The G is has the same engine and can just as fun with a little more luxury and practicality (back seats). Good luck. And despite what some of the newer members are saying, your question is not dumb and you have every right to ask it. We are all here to help each other, not to stroke our egos.
