2011's in a month?

I ended up buying a 2009 leftover. Blue. Touring Sport 6MT with nav. $40,000+ MSRP... they sold for $32,900. It has 3,000 miles on it. It made A LOT more sense for many different reasons.

Thanks for all your help! I'll post pics when I take some (on a real camera, not my iPhone 4 camera).

LOVE it so far. I realized that this is pretty much what I mostly wanted my G35 and G37 Coupes to be. I somewhat miss my G37 6MT, but mostly I do not!

leasing can be a great option depends on how you look at it. i've always leased car and if i really wanted to keep it in the end, id buy it outright at that point because it is still money that you have invested into the car. the 370z is an amazing car, and will prob be a great collector's item in years to come. however there are quite a few advantages of a lease that no one knows about. the inclusion of gap insurance, is the biggest and most important thing id have to say. i recently totaled my vehicle and was stressing about payment for the different that insurance would give me for the car. when i found out that id be paying the difference i was wondering how and why i should be paying it when it was going to be taken care of by insurance i thought. then i received a call from nissan finance and was informed they were given notice of the car being totaled and were providing support for me to get into another vehicle and told me that gap insurance was included with every lease. it put me at ease knowing i dont have to come out with anything out of pocket. whereas with a purchase you have to have buy gap insurance.

for me its knowing that if a cooler vehicle comes out while im in the middle of a lease i can always switch cars. and let it go hassle free.

Yeah, sorry ShiroZ... I agree with IB.

While I've typically always leased... and leasing CAN be a great option... you listed all the wrong reasons.

1- Typically, leasing to buy does not work out best.
2- Umm never buy a car thinking it will be a collector's item... even so.. then you should be BUYING, not leasing.
3- Gap insurance? That's your reason?

Main advantages of leasing are if you typically don't want to keep a car longer than 3 years or so... you won't lose money on trading/selling. Also good if you want to be in a car you can't afford to buy. The Z is a BAD car to lease... Nissan doesn't make it attractive, which is why I ended up buying a leftover. My first car out of my past 4 that I didn't lease.

I also view leasing as an easier, less hassle way to trade up to a newer car vice purchasing. You don't have to take the trouble to haggle the trade in or do a private sale prior to purchase. Just turn in, drive off in another.

Planning to keep the car for awhile here, FI it when the warranty runs out (or sooner!

), and then hand it over to the son when he's old enough to drive (not for another 8 years!).

Oh yeah, I definitely agree on that. If you're getting a brand new car (not a left over) and want it for 3 years or less... leasing is almost always the way to go.

I agree with everyone's viewpoint on leasing. Sorry for stating the wrong reasons. But this is currently what has happened to me in the past month and ive been dealing with it. but to say GAP insurance is nice. and it doesnt exactly come out to 10$/month for gap insurance. a little more than that here in socal. as for my last words about a cooler car coming out and hassle free, it is incorrect for many because theres sometimes upside downs etc and other fees that may be involved if turning in the lease early. but for me im fortunate to negotiate and know people that will make it happen so that it is hassle free for me. if anyone here is in socal and is looking for a vehicle i dont mind helping out or giving out a point of contact for the purchase/lease.
also about the z being a collectors item, i guess its based on point of view. because to us enthusiasts it may be a collectors item already just b/c it has potential and a history that precedes it. but the points you made msb and option are the most important which i probably should have stated instead of my randomness.

sidenote. msb. you are right on getting a brand new car for 3yrs or less, leasing is the best way to go for any vehicle.

This is interesting - I see that the msrp for the 2011 touring model will be going up by $200 to $35,280. That's expected, however it seems Nissan does not plan to charge extra for the Black Cherry color; a savings of $500.

Can we get a confirmation on that? It should affect the quote that I got in September based on the 2010 model.

It finally arrived! I ordered it Sept 6 and picked it up last night. The dealer did a fine job prepping it - I wanted the spoiler but not the sports option, so they had to install it.

The only minor complaint I have is that there is less room in the back than I had expected - no ones' fault but my own.

Hopefully, it will keep me happy for 12 years; just like my Acura Integra did.
