Default Starting negotiations!!!

OK, I've built the car the way I want it, and sent a request to all the surrounding dealerships to start the price war. Is the aerodynamics package included with the touring/sport version, or is that still another option? I thought I read it was included, but it was left unchecked when I started building the car. Also, for those of you that decided to pass on the splash guards, are you happy with the decision? I think it looks cleaner without, but I'd like to get some opinions from people who already own the car. TIA

The aerodynamics come with the sports package. The splash guards are very helpful. keeps the pebbles and rubble from scratching yoru car. I would get it if i were you. Look at the invoice pricing thread and AKs thread for how to negotiate. I would ask for invoice and nothing higher. I live in Socal and got 825 under invoice.

results may vary, but i wouldnt agree to buy it for anything more than invoice.

PM me if you are from socal and want recommended dealers.

a. Yes, the aerodynamics package IS included in the sports package.

b. I would suggest you to get the splash guards. It makes the car look completely on the outside. (IMO). I am very happy with the decision.

OK, let me look in the gallery for some pics. It's not an expensive option, so I may do it after all.

Thanks for the tip. Yes, I'm in communications with 5 dealerships in my area. I've already told them I won't pay for the destination charge, and I've asked them to come in at or below invoice. I'm sure a couple of them will try to stay close to MSRP, but if they want to sell the car, they'll do what I ask.

Good news guys!!

After two days, I got a bite on invoice! Here is the response I got from the manager:

Jason,

I will make this process simple for you. Since you already done your research and know my cost and what others are paying I will entertain your offer for this particular vehicle. Also, I can have this vehicle here with the 4 weeks if not by the end of the month depending on how soon you put your order in. Once we agree on your offer I will tally up the fee’s and give you total drive out. Since your phone is down you can contact me at ***-**** or ***-****.

Thanks
Kevin

It looks like I'll be heading there this weekend to place my order!

So how much are they agreeing to exactly pricewise?
Because I also want the same specs as you.

I actually changed the specs of the car, and the new configuration was the base/sport. I only wanted the touring for the nav and home link, but I didn't want the inflated price tag just to get those two things. I'll be ordering the homelink mirror after I get the car, and adding an aftermarket nav system.

The total for the car *should* be $31.2k.

Not bad, seems fair to me.

I am surprised at $31,200....invoice on stated model is $31,808.

They dropped 600 below invoice on a brand new, you have to order car.

Whow !....the best I can muster was 32,100...$300 above invoice. Base + Sport 6MT, but I also asked for the windows to be tinted, illuminated kick plates and mats, which I think already come with car anyhow. 2 months I have to wait.

$32,100 isn't bad at all!

Out of 5 dealerships, only two responded to my low-ball request. One was rude, and the other one is Southpoint, where I'll be buying the car. Now I say 31.2k for the car, but I haven't signed anything yet; I just have the email the manager sent me that agrees to that price. They may try some tricks when I get there, but we'll see.

DAMMIT!!!!

I'm a pessimist by heart, so I was somewhat guarded about everything being perfect about getting the new car.

My bonus check came in today, and uncle sam decided he wanted an usually large chunk of my earnings (42%). It's not a big deal, but it ate into the money I was going to use to put down on the Z. It will take me 3-4 months to re-gain that money.....oh well, if I'm going to wait that long, I might as well wait for the '10 model to come out, and hopefully they'll add an oil cooler and change the multi-function gauge a little.
