picking up a z tomorrow
I've got a deposit down, but I'm torn between two cars.
Both of the cars I'm looking at are 09's w/o sport package and w/ 6MT. Looking for thoughts about color, and whether the touring/nav is worth it. Red Z: Touring/Nav/Clear Bra on front 31k OTD Silver Z: Base 27.2k OTD Thanks for any thoughts guys. |

Are you an audiophile? Do you plan on upgrading the stereo no matter what, or in contrast, do you plan on leaving the stereo alone no matter what? If you have any intention in upgrading audio, the Touring will be a PITA and it's not even that great of a system.
An aftermarket system also brings replacements for the bluetooth and nav that you'd get from the Touring/Nav Z, although the stock nav looks great! Do you like leather seats? The touring seats are great, but there are relatively inexpensive aftermarket options like leather covers from Katskins (sp?), but only if leather was your selling point of the package. Both cars not having Sports package concern me, as it's the #1 value of our Z's (if you don't plan on doing loads of upgrades for the track).

I have a 6MT base, and I really wish I would have gotten sport package for the syncro rev match.
just my 2 cents......

First, congrats on joining the z world. Here is how I'd prioritze the option packages
1 6mt (never considered the AT) 2 sports package 3 touring 4 nav I know you may not want everything but you may want to relook how you prioritized your options. It all depends of how much aftermarket you want to go.

I would get the base since I would be replacing everything with aftermarket stuff. But that's my opinion. Either way it's a win win situation for you. Welcome to the forums and good luck on your Z purchase

Ironically, user Secks Z drives a base model. lol
Here's a pitch for base model w/o sport. That's what I have. I plan on modifying the car. New seats, mebbe new wheels, custom upholstery, the whole 9. Sport is great for the LSD, better brakes, and SRM. Looks are subjective, but the sport is generally agreed a better looking car. But I like the base model. I'm not tracking my beast, so I don't really need LSD, better brakes... The aesthetic upgrades are all things I can replace aftermarket. And I found SRM disruptive to my driving style. As for touring, the leather is cool, but I'm doing one-off. I don't care about having a better stereo, as I'm planning to replace it eventually. Seat heaters would have been nice... I won't pay for Nav. Just personal opinion obv. All that said, the real reason I chose base is that it's hella cheap. |

Did ya get it? I'd recommend the Sport Package, but ith your current ride, I'd now recommend the base. You're probably gonna mod it down the road. Do you track that beast of a Honda?
I'm dancing with the dealer for my 40th right now. I originally looked at a Touring 6MT w/o Sport, but after seeing the 40th and driving the Sport Package, can't imagine not having the SRM. But given your apparent penchant for mods, the Base would suit you better, I believe. |
