I was in Portugal just last week and saw a 350z fully loaded for 79k Euros (about 100k USD), so its nothing to do with the North American market, rather, something clearly specific to the Euro region. Just be glad you're not in Spain/Portugal, or you'd really be cursing out to the Nissan regional distros

yeah its only because european countries apply monster taxes when it comes to sportscars and horsepower. if you take alle the taxes away it would be as cheap as in the states.

There you go. I think getting a European sports car is considerably cheaper than it is buying an import. I could tell the differences when walking past the Alfa Romeo, BMW, Porsche dealerships in town, with their price tags quite similar to the American counterparts.
Good luck to you in finding a good one. If it still doesn't work, did you query what it would take to import directly from Japan/US ? |

importing is an option, but then again if i import a car from a foreign country i have to pay customs duty, 20% income tax, 14 % other taxes and so on and so on, its horrible. it really pisses me off that we have to pay so much money for a decent car here. nevertheless i want the z!
edit: just saw i wrote the states makes us pay taxes like crazy, it should be the state (our state)... |

Honestly...
We're not lucky or anything. It's all about money currency. The dollar is weak thanks to our country's great choices. + being in recession ain't helping us out much. Case in point, same ****.

Yeah the US prices are very affordable compared to the rest of the world. Especially if you consider the JDM prices to be a base line.
In Japan the Base model goes for 3935800 Yen, or about $40K. A loaded Touring + Sport Model runs 4930700 Yen, or about $50K USD. Car prices in certain countries, like Australia, have always been much higher than the US, no matter what the make. |

I'm pretty sure the worst country to own a car in is Singapore. If I remember correctly, goes something like this:
-200% sales tax, so a car cost 3X by default -Engine tax based on displacement, I never knew the amount, but the company leased Toyota Odyssey was 1.6L and added at least 50% of original price. I might have also been dependent on car size/style. -Certificate of ownership, these control the number of cars on the road. Essentially, one old car off, one new car on. these are auctioned by the government every month, and supply/demand controls the price. Normally 33% as a starting price, but you normally tell the salesmen what your cap is based on how quick you want the car. -Sales fees. Because of all the regulation crap, no one ever guys their own car, the have the salesman take car of all the stuff I've mentioned. I think they use to take like 6% of the final price, good chunk of change. Yah, my family sold a <6 month Jag S, a <16 month Diesel Chrysler Town&Country, and my dad's kit Shelby Cobra replica, and bought a 4d Renault Cleo with the money. Oh, and the cars were sold at British pound values. The company took care of the Odyssey. We don't have anyone from Singapore reading, do we? |

that sounds horrible..extreme taxes in singapore. in the end you can do nothing against it but accept the fact that you have to pay more for the same thing. at least we have very nice winding roads here in austria..
