I found this site a few days ago, I don't know how accurate it is, but it's supposed to tell you what others are paying for a car, and if what you're paying is a good deal:
truecar.com Just don't let them rape you on everything else to recoup the loss they are taking. |

Yea. Figure out the taxes and license fees and make them an out the door offer of the above price plus those fees. That way they can't tack on VIN etching, unreasonable documentation fees, etc.

A few have been mentioned ... VIN etching charges, Documentation fees above $50, paint treatment fees, undercarriage treatment fees. Each area is a bit different, but typically the only required fees are sales tax, plate fees/registration, and inspection fees. They will tack on a documentation fee, but that fee is negotiable unlike taxes and license fees. You can look up on the internet what your tax rate is and what the license and tax fees are for your area.

hoenstly i think diff states have diff required fee's so i cant help you much there.
but reason i know you can do 32k is I got mine for 33k. Mine was manual tho. and had Nav. Heck actually you should be able to get under 32k. But jsut one thing, if they offer you a good deal take it. I don't like people who try to be like "I dont want them making any money on me!" cus well they are a business. And yes they shouldnt be robbing most people like they do, but we shouldnt try to screw them over either. (i feel bad for the guy who paid 41k for the same setup that I have) |

i dont mind paying but dont jerk me either. any smart buyer knows invoice is a trumped up number anyway. if you buy invoice they are already making a good profit. anything over invoice is what the salesguy is going to get for selling your car to you. i dont think 2,200 for a salesguy is reasonable. plus all the jerks on trade and financing mark ups get kicked to management like a mafia gift.
it really angers me when people talk bout dealerships need to make money because you have no idea how much they really make. i once worked as a car salesman so dont let other salesguys give you the sob story. if there are no holdbacks or other dealer incentives going on then a car in the $30k's somewhere around 500 and 1000 over invoice would be warranted depending on car, situation and service. doc fees shouldnt be over $75 and there should be no reason for them to get another 2 or 3 percent added to your interest rate as the enhanced rape rate. salesguys will come on the forum and talk bout how they have to keep the lights off at the dealership cuz they cant pay the bill. if they dont drop that nonsense on you? they wont have an excuse for taking you well over $3000 of the normal profit margin. when theres dealer incentive, you can see up to 2500 below invoice depending. kickbacks can be large depending on the corporate financial situation. |
