Default Car Buying help

Hey guys, new to the forum. Im currently a member on v6p.net because my current car is an 06 2door accord v6 manual (love it by the way) but i might be upgrading to the beautiful 370 fairly soon.

Anyway i went to the local dealer and they had the touring with sports package and maybe the navi? i cant remember, but it was white and automatic so i wouldnt get that one but the point is they had it listed for 42,600 and change.... i was ready to believe that that was the price until i was reading through these threads. what do you do with that? they are not gonna let you take 6k off it to get to invoice are they? what do i do when i go in there just put invoice on the table and play hardball?

BTW its my first car im gonna have to negotiate for

Thanks in advance glad to be apart of a new forum!

You have more than one dealership in town? I would stop by and talk to a sales person and say I am looking at paying invoice, if they say no (you can give them your number), just walk away and go to another dealership.
Remember, you have the power to just walk away from any deal and make them want you to buy the car, make them work for your sale.

You should e-mail the internet sales people at various dealers around you. Ask what deal they will give you, then see if you can negotiate a little bit. You should be able to negotiate a deal fairly close to invoice. Maybe a few hundred bucks more. There's a thread here that lists all the invoice prices so you can figure out what you want to pay for whatever car you're looking at.

If you're going to buy in May I'd hold off. I already have a price locked in because I'm a USAA member, but I'll probably see if I can find any local dealers to beat that deal when I am ready to buy. I won't be buying 'til May/June, so I'll probably start with that on May 1.

If i were to start emailing dealers early how long would their "deal" last for once they give me one? until i buy? ... they would probly try to take it away after saying they never said that especially if it becomes more popular in the next few months lol

i want to lock in a deal before the invoice price becomes a non-competitive offer

I really don't know if any dealer would give you a price now for a purchase you're going to make a few months down the road. I honestly wouldn't worry about invoice not being a competitive offer in a couple months. The market is not going to turn any time soon... there will be plenty of Z's on the lot.

I'd be patient and start your talking once you're ready to buy. A dealer is going to be more inclined to work with you if he knows you're serious about buying the car right then if you get a good offer.
