Financing help needed.
Spoke to my dealer the other day and he is expecting my car in this week. Ive been driving company vehicles for the last 15 years so this is my first new car purchase. Wondering how the process works for financing the car?? Anyone finance NOT through the dealer?? What is a good interest rate today?? I read something about dealerships offering 0% to move more cars. Mine was a special order so not sure how much play there will be. Any help is appreciated! Thx!

You prolly wont receive 0% as I dont think thats available on the 370. And it really just depends on how your credit is. Check around at different banks and see what kind of rate they can give you. Or try and negoiate with the dealer if you are financing though them. Thats the good thing about financing... if you dont like what the dealer is presenting you. You have loads and loads of different options.

I always get a pre-approved loan before I go to buy a car. That way the stress is way less than to having to deal with the Finance Department that most of the times will try to screw you unless they have a good APR already advertise by the manufacturer. Some credit union have low rates but for short period of months. The APR will depend on the months you are planning to finance and your credit report. Try to do all your loan application the same day that way your FICO score don't suffer. For example USAA will send you a pre-approved (blank) check and all you do is take it to the dealer. For example in my area: USAA - 3.99% APR 60 mths Navy Federal FCU - 2.99% APR 48 mths NWS FCU - 3.75 APR% 60 mths GL with your new purchase! |
I see your in NY. Where about are you? Might I ask why the car was special order?

My dealer was awesome in helping me with financing. I did some searching on my own and my dealer was able to find a better 60 month interest rate through a third-party bank (not NMAC)...the dealer even prepped all the paperwork as if the loan was through Nissan. I don't know what your credit score is (mine's a hair under 800) but that might affect how helpful your dealer is with finding you a good interest rate. Depending on how eager the dealer is to get rid of the car probably also affects the dealer's helpfulness with third-party financing.

i only got approved for 5.75% even though i had already financed a car through nissan that i had bought at the same dealer (great neck nissan). they tried telling me i didn't have enough credit history. i said 'HELLO i just paid off my altima last month after 1yr 11mo. Turns out i never got any credit for that because my dad cosigned on the loan. I got them down to 5% through fifth third bank. I didn't care that much about the rate though b/c i put down 30k and only intend to keep the loan a year :)

from what I heard you can have your credit run several times in a month period. But after that then you take a hit. My sister in law is a loan agent and thats what she said. Idk. They know your shopping around via a car, house. So they give you that lee way.
