To buy or not to buy...

That's always the question, right?

Here's my question. Currently driving a Mustang because I disliked the 350s (no disrespect, just didn't like 'em), but I love the 370 and WANT one bad. I've been looking around at your site (which is far better and more respectful than the Chevelle and Mustang forums I belong to) and have seen a couple things I have to question.

1. Is the clutch as awful as the 350s? I drove two 370s and neither was bad, but I talked to a seller that says his clutch is awful for busy traffic.

2. Is the oil cooler an issue for busy traffic on hot Tennessee days?

3. Looking at an older 911 and a new G37S. Anybody have any feelings on the comparisons?

4. Convertible or Nismo?

Go nismo, the convertibles look kind of ugly with the roof up. The oil cooler is necessary if you race, street driving you should be fine.

As far as your other 2 questions, idunno. Idrive auto and the Z is my first car

edit: if you're looking at performance, the 370z beats the g37. But the infinity is more luxury. 370z won that battle for me in a split second.

I considered those, as well. In my bias, I wanted a new car that was less expensive to maintain than a porsche past warranty, so there went the 911.

If refinement is your deal, the G will be that: more comfy, more plush. The Z is a 2-seat rocket, stiffer and more bestial. Again, this is my biased opinion.

Obviously you know my choice, but I hope those opinions give food for thought. Good luck regardless of what you choose.

yah, i too was not a fan of the 350z's but definitely a fan of the 370z so i know wat you mean.

i think the clutch could get cumbersome if you're doing bumper to bumper traffic every day but for most driving it's not that heavy. my 04 G35C's clutch is heavier.

i think the base with sport package is the best deal out of the different trims and options. but that's just me.

1. The clutch in my 2009 370Z feels the same as the one I had in my 2008 350Z. The earlier model 350Z's supposedly had stiffer clutches. Clutch feel is highly subjective though. Just go try one and see if it's your cup of tea.

2. I can't comment on Tennessee. Try checking out the regional forum sections to see what people in your area are experiencing.

3. The G37S is more of a touring car; softer suspension, more amenities, etc. It's definitely very nice, but it is heavier and less sharp than the 370Z. There are a zillion models of the 911 so I can't comment on that. I will say it is a more classic look (since Porsche rarely ever changes it) though.

4. Do you want go to parties where everyone puts their keys into a glass bowl, or parties where everyone is complaining about scraping their lip on speed bumps?

2. You'll do fine without one
3. g37s is a fancy coupe. Like your Stang' in the sense it has back seats, but isn't a 'sports car' like the 370 is. I'd pick a new Z over a used 911, but thats just me. Consider the warrenty and the like. Atleast with a new Z you know how its been treated from the start, the 911 on the other hand you don't.
4. Go with the Rag top. IMO its one of the best looking verts out there, and from what I've heard some people find that the Nismo is kinda a waste. It sounds like you'll be using the car as a DD so I think you'll have more fun and be more comfortable with a drop top.

So to sum it up, go with a 370 Convertable.

what makes this clutch as (opposed to any other) so bad in traffic? I've driven in bumper to bumper traffic with it, it wasn't that bad.

Not sure about why the clutch was bad, he just complained about it so it got me curious. Glad you aren't having that problem, though
