Need advice! So after waiting 3 months for my car that had to be "special ordered" I get a call from the dealer that it "is in route" and should be here in 3 days and they gave me the vin. After 3 more weeks of waiting(???) they finally call and say they need to prep it so I can come down tomorrow at 4pm. I go down there today just to see it. After giving explicit instructions that I did not want the car detailed its sitting in their lot all cleaned and all the plastic protection off. To boot there is a license plate background on the back from another dealer in another state. When I checked the website for the other dealer its listed in their inventory. Also the splashguards I ordered are not on the car and there is a diflated balloon on the side mirror. The bracket for the chin spoiler is broken and hanging down, a spot of grease on the inside suede door panel and no splash guards listed on the window sticker. What is going on here? What would you do? Thanks

If you still intend to buy it, inspect everything twice and take your time. You waited this long, make shure everything is perfect. Have them put it on the lift if you have to. Don't take it unless you are 100% sure.

No, I bought from a dealer on Long Island. Negotiated a fair price 3 months ago and this is the end result. The front chin spoiler has a broken bracket and is hanging down in the corner, there is no spash guards and no illuminated kickplates. Unreal. Not taking the car. There is nothing these guys could do to regain my trust. I am a patient person. Life moves on. If I am spending 40K on a car, I want to pick it up with no miles, the day it arrives off the boat and the plastic on it. Who knows how long this thing was sitting on a lot with people test driving and opening it up before its broken in. Unbelievable! NISSAN 112 in Patchogue Long Island people! Remember the name and tell your friends!

My advise is to walk away from this car. DON'T LET YOUR IMPULSE/DESIRE FOR THE Z TO TAKE CONTROL OF YOU. There are plenty of Z's out there, so don't buy one until you're happy with the whole process, the car, the way the dealer is treating you, etc. I would also look for another dealership too. There's no reason for any reputable Nissan dealer to mickey mouse anyone around. My dealership, for example, has treated me like gold, wonderful place to do business with. I think you're still able to order one, but not sure about the cut off date with ordering.

This is a special car, and a special purchase, at least for many of us. Sure, some little things can go wrong, and a good dealer will do their best to work with you and fix them to your satisfaction. But this just smells wrong. I don't want to black list this Z, but from what you've said about it, I'd have to walk away from that car, and like I said, it would have caused me to lose trust in the dealership too.

That's my thought. Let us know what you end up doing.

I don't think a lot of people realize you can't "order" a Nissan like you would a domestic car. There's no such thing as placing a specific order for a car to be built in your name.

I sold Datsuns/Nissans in the early 80's. The dealer never really knows what or how many of any model he's going to get, After writing the deal the salesman can wait until one comes in (rare), or he can try to arrange a dealer swap w/another dealer. He can try to talk the customer into another color or more/less options to fit one he can get.

If one should actually come in, the sales manager tells all his salesmen with Z deals pending to come into his office with their deals. The car goes to the salesman with the highest-profit deal. The rest wait. This goes for ALL models, not just Z's.

I would walk away from this deal, demand every penny back you put in and then search yourself for a car you want that is in stock at a dealer. Drive or Fly to said dealer and make your deal, drive home in your new Z. There is enough Z's out there that you can find exactly what you want do not settle on such a major purchase.

Thanks all! Just called and told them I'm not taking it. I also called Nissan consumer Affairs to report it (not sure what affect that will have). For 40k Im not taking something i dont feel 100% about. Greatly appreciate the advise. If any reputable dealers can find a 2010 PG with Persimmon MT with illum kick plates, splash guards, trunk and floor mats with sports package for invoice, Im all ears. Thanks again guys.
