Picking up my Z thursday...
Hey, so my Z came in a month early and i am about to pick it up on thursday. I just have to work out financing and the extras. If any of you financed through nissan motor corp, what rate did you get. they are trying to sell me 6.44% at 72 months. i am not really concerned with the loan period because i will be paying it off after a year no matter what. I think that rate is a little high.
Now for the extras (email from the finance manager) Alarm $395 Remote Start $495 Lojack $699 Lojack Early Warning(via text or email) $1195 Great Neck Platinum Card (includes 2 years free oil changes, 5 years roadside assistance and 5 years Tire and Rim Protection) $799 Extended Warranties: 60months/100,000 miles $2108.00 72months/100,000 miles $2373.00 84 months/100,000 miles $2539.00 Right now i am thinking i should get none of these. I'd get the wheel coverage but i'm selling my wheels right away so thats irrelavent, and i have AAA so i dont need roadside assistance (and i can change my own tire ). anyone have any advice for what i should go for from this list, or should i just not get anything? Thanks |
I would do your own oil changes, so that throws that option out.
No need for remote start, the car has a pretty good alarm system already, lojack is not worth it. By the time they find it, what they wanted out of the car will be gone. I did not finance through Nissan so I cannot help you there. |
thanks dreamer,
I wish they'd throw in infinite TPMS resets. that would be awesome. i want to try and get that thrown into the deal. |

I just bought mine recently and flat denied all the dealer extras. I came there to purchase a car, and that's all that I did, on my terms, for my price... Hell, they even got me a better interest rate than I'd anticipated.
The extras are all things that I've already got from insurance or can handle myself. Because my Z is a pleasure car, I can sit it for months at a time if I need to save up to get serious work done. |

what rate did you get? |
My bank's best possible rate was beaten by another bank by .35%. Don't sound like much, but I wasn't sure I'd get even my bank's best.
|
ditto on what shadoquad said. I'm in the same boat. I got 3.69%/72mo. Beat my PenFed 3.99%. Denied all the extras. Second vehicle for me too. The 6.44% rate is a little on the high side but if your credit score is in the mid-high 700s you should be able to get a better rate than that. Even Pendfed 3.99%.
|
yea i have a 740+ credit score. i think its kinda bs rate. plus i have just paid off my altima through them after 2 years.
so is the consensus no extras? no concerns from anyone about the warranty? |
Hope it goes well for you!

Yeah def apply for the PenFed loan. Even though you are picking it up Thurs you can supply them the VIN and the loan amount and they will overnight the check. You should get 3.99%... I just checked Penfed and they aren't offering 3.99 for 72mo anymore, you have these options:
60mo 3.99 72mo 4.75 Still better than your rate and then you can see if the dealer can beat that rate. Mine did but they financed it through BofA not NMC. Good luck |
I agree with your idea!\
|
i just ran a quick check for you.. its showing 3.09% from Bank of America for under 60 months!
|
great thanks everyone. do you guys with the loan suggestions for penfed and bank of america happen to know if there is an early payoff penalty?
|
I know when I log into my BofA account it lists the payoff amount all the time like it's just waiting to be paid off. No mention of a penalty.
