zag.com deal not coming through?
So I recently dropped the idea of getting a VW GTI which I had set my heart on for the last year after researching the 370z a few months back. It's a beautiful car and I LOVE the technology. Amazing!
Anyways, I went through zag.com (through usaa) and got this printable certificate saying that I can get a base model M/T 370z /w mats and sports package for $31488 which is claimed to be $500 below invoice. I have to drive 200 miles to get it if I do make the deal, which kinda sucks, but that's a lot of savings. I've contacted the dealer via email 2 weeks ago and haven't heard back from them. Are they required to meet this price? I started talking with the local dealer and from what it looks like according to invoice prices on this site, the invoice for all these options and this car is as follows: Base Model 6 speed manual MSRP - 29,990 Invoice - 28,099 Sports Package MSRP - 3,000 Invoice- 2,602 Floor Mats MSRP - 115 Invoice- 89 Trunk Mat MSRP - 95 Invoice - 65 + 720 Destination fee So Invoice all together is $31,575. 6.25% sales tax = $1974 (rounded up). That's 33549. add the 275 for registration = 33824. This is not including the dealer hold back on invoice (2% of total invoice). 2% of 31575 = $632. So by selling me the car for $34000 including TTL would = $808 in the dealer's pocket right? But would still be only $200 over invoice for me and would make this situation win win right? He said after I sent him the email with the following information that it wasn't doable and that the lowest he could go is $35,613.33 including TTL. That sounds like he's trying to milk me for quite a bit above what the car should be going for. I replied to him sticking with my $34000 including TTL offer and told him to get back with me if he decides he can get down to that price. Any advice? Sorry for the long read. |

yeah, you can gernerally order it and they ask for about 1k here in sd that is what i am doing and sometimes they can pick up what you want that is headed to another deaer to get it sooner, the wait time here in san diego is about 3 months, I also went through USAA, and i didnt go to the usaa dealer, i went to the closest one that knew what the car was, and just not the gizmo's sat down talked numbers and am picking up a PW touring SPT w/o nav for 36k about 600 above invoice, but i wasnt willing to drive to get it 600 below as i have a tade-in and am trying to keep the miles off it. try and find another nissan dealer and see if they will beat it, generally you get a pretty good deal with usaa.
I spent 10 minutes with the salesman and told him more then he thought i knew i basically took charge of the sale at the beginning and we will see how it works out on the end...but regardless of that I approched him as others approched me, that meant that it wasnt his turn to hawk over people, and thus far he has done everything he said he would with weekly updates and answering any questions i have and just being a cool guy, and not trying to be a salesman of the "stealership" I also had a MkVI GTI on order but they fired the guy i was working with and never told me or transferred my file, to anyone, at the same time i thought about it and i am sick of the check engine lights... soi looked where to go, and i have been looking at the 370z since it hit show room floors driven it a couple times and just thought it would be a good choice to get out of the VAG world and get some fresh air. EDIT: Make sure you keep a copy of your price from the usaa/zag so if the try and screw you on numbers then you have the paper to start off with agian. sorry for the long reply hope it helps

Yeah I love the MKVI but I'm not impressed with how it looks exterior wise. Inside it's a dream come true, but I can't justify paying near the same price when I can get a japanese car that has 130 more hp and looks as sick as the 370z does. |
