This cannot be done. If a car in owned by a Canadian, they have 3 weeks to register the vehicle in the province they live.
I looked into this as well; my parents own a home in Florida. Apparently if you get caught it’s a big fine because at that point it would be considered an illegal vehicle. I than said well how are they going to know how long I have the vehicle in Canada for??? Wellll when you come across the border in a US car with Canadian ID the border guards look into it a lot more. Sorry to burst your bubble, mine was too |

If the Florida address is your main place of living you shouldn't have a problem. I doubt they would tax you for going into Canada for 6 months or less with a car if your main address is in Florida and your are a Canadian citizen

They will! I looked into when I bought my Z. You cannot bring a US car here for more than 3 weeks if you are a Canadian Citizen. This is what I wanted to do when I was buying mine. I just wanted it for the no front plates... The tax didn't hurt either |

I live in the United States and I have brought a New car into Canada for more than 3 weeks. Its not were you are a citizen of its were you are a resident of. If that was the case when I go to Canada every summer I would have to pay tax on my car? that makes no sense and has never happened to me.

He lives in Toronto......................... I would assume this means he works in Canada which would make him a resident...
I am telling you I called the MTO and this is the information I got. If he lives and works in Canada he needs to register the car ASAP or it would be considered an illegal vehicle. If you could just drive a US car in Canada no one would EVER register the vehicle in Canada. 1. I don’t have to pay Canadian Taxes 2. I don’t need to pay the marked up Canadian prices 3. Florida = no front plates. There is a reason why driving around Canada you don’t see many Florida cars but yet every silver haired person owns property in Florida, haha.
