For those who got VPP - did your dealer charge destination of $695? I am hearing that some dealers didn't charge destination.

WShade 02-08-2009 10:26 AM

Destination is always charged as it is a factory expense. For a dealer to say they are not charging destination is just part of the numbers game. Personally, $695 is not a deal breaker for me.

List of Dealers?

Is there a list of dealers by state/region that honor the VPP program. Also, could you take the VPP discount and the rebate if they offer it?

I don't think we do since it's dealer dependent meaning it depends on dealership. Some respect it while other don't.

You can go to Nissan USA - Nissan Cars, Trucks, Crossovers, SUVs, Hybrid and look at left lower corner. There should be a dealer locater. Put your zip code there and find all your nearest dealers. Then, just start calling them one by one and see which dealer offers VPP discount.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the feedback

VPP price at Sterling McCall in Houston

I just wanted to post this for those in the market for a 370z in the Houston area. I found 2 dealers in the Houston area that have given me VPP pricing (David McDavid and Sterling McCall). I worked with Eddy Machete at McDavid and Stephen Baker at Sterling McCall. I bought at Sterling McCall because of the better trade-in offer. I chose the Monterey Blue Touring under VPP D plan pricing. The MSRP for this car is $35490. The invoice price is $32173. The VPP D Plan price is $32765.88. (side note- Sterling McCall had to dealerswap for the model/color I wanted. VPP restrictions prohibited them to add any items that were not on the manufacturers invoice which turned out to be the illuminated sill plate and window tint that was added on by the dealer. So I got those 2 addons "free" which Sterling McCall had to absorb in the deal.:woot:

I also contacted 3 other dealers (Baytown Nissan, Baker Jackson South and Tom Peacock Nissan). These dealers said no VPP pricing and were still asking at MSRP or $300 below MSRP even after I told them I had two firm offers of VPP. They either said that there is a hidden cost or told me I was mistaken. I would not recommend Baker Jackson South as they were the least honest about their business practices (telling me a particular car was available, then I find that it is sold to charity just before I get there, but of course, there are these other models available that I can purchase....etc:icon08:)

I commend the two salesmen I dealt with at McDavid and Sterling McCall for being upfront and straightforward.

I hope this helps future 370Z owners in the Houston area:driving:

What is a 2.5% delivery fee? Is that 2.5% of the invoice price or 2.5% of the destination fee? If it is 2.5% of the invoice price, minus the 2.87% fee then doesn't the purchase price pretty much equal the invoice price? I am confused here.

Zblues 02-27-2009 10:42 PM

It's Nissan's VPP Plan D calcs. The 2.5% is added back after the 2.87% discount off the invoice price. The salesman couldn't explain what exactly that particular charge is for. His explanation is that the VPP calculations are done automatically using Nissan's form. All he enters in is the Vin # and my VPP registered claim #. Nissan's VPP software spits out the form as seen in previous posts. The dealer can't enter any charges in that VPP document, which turned out well for me since the dealer they traded with had added window tint and the illuminated kick plate. I got to pay the VPP final price without those adds.

I think you can google Nissan VPP and they may have an explanation in there somewhere. See the post on page 3 of this thread for a pic of a VPP form. That form is almost identical to the one that was handed to me for signature.

I think I fall under the VPP Plan C. But my question is, right now folks are getting the 370Z at invoice or slightly below invoice from some of the posts I have read without VPP, so are we really saving a hugh amount below the invoice amount or just a little? The way I understand it, it works out to be maybe a couple hundred off of invoice is the Plan C and D price. Of course if you are a NNA corporate employee or immediate family member then you get 4% off of invoice and no delivery charge, and that does equate to a significant amount.

I am in so cal. and the tax rate is 7.75% so my price according the the Plan C or D is approx the MSRP, but out the door, including tax, lic. fee, etc. So for example a touring, sport, 6spd works out to be about $38,500 out the door for me which is similar to the sticker price.

Just a little, plan C & D are not meant to be the very best deals as stated before. You can negotiate a better deal, within a few hundred dollars, these days if you are willing to put in the time. Or, purchase in no time flat and use the rest of that free time driving. :driving:

I agree. The deal I got from John Frederick at Ed Martin Nissan in Indianapolis was really good. No hassles and a very fair trade value for my car. I couldn't get near the deal in Cincinnati. I did qualify for VPP and may have paid a few dollars more but I'm happy.

BTW, Since picking up the car on 2/14 I have received 2 letters and 3 phone calls from the dealer checking to see if I was happy with the car. One thing that my come out of this economy is a return to customer service.

I just tried to fill out the VPP form. The 370Z is not listed as being eligible. Only the 350Z is present.

Just so you guys know.

WShade 03-17-2009 05:38 PM

- Eligible MY09 Nissan Vehicles: All released MY09 Vehicles except GT-R and Versa Sedan 1.6L Trims

That includes the 370Z. What form are you attempting to fill out?
