Long story short I was told my payments would be 550 per month on a purchase then when I went to sign they were not even close and we are talking about me putting 10k down... I am upsidedown on my Z for about 3k but the dealer I was purchasing from was just shady....... I walked away and decided I would save more... They tried to call me like 4 times the following couple days telling me they had a better deal for me.... I just ignored them....

When I do decide to buy ill probably buy from Lou here on the forums.... he is only about a 7 hour drive from me.... atleast then I will know I will be getting a good deal with no BS thrown in the mix.

Yeap.. no BS from Lou !!! Just great experience

Basically, if your price OTD is over $27k, you need to keep looking. Of course this depends on your credit score and what interest rate you can get as well. I'm basing my ramblings on 6% interest.

:icon18: Completely agree, heed this advice. Also really REALLY assess your situation and see if you actually can afford this car. What happens if you lose your job? Not such a remote possibility in this economy...............

Hey Toxik, read this thread from AK, wish I had known this type of stuff before taking the plunge! (and wish I could do this in Canada...) There's always a way of getting "good" deals. Definitely 'buy' the car and say F it to financing!!!

lol i'm an accountant, so on one hand if anyone can assess their financial situation, that would be me; that's also the other point, tons of accounting jobs whether economy is up or down.

I'm gonna go to Koeppel once I'm ready, see what numbers I get and decide what to do from there. I'm also hoping for a nice tax return which could bring my down payment right back to where it was before.

thanks for all the advice guys.
