I bought it at Jim Click Nissan but Thoroughbred was the first to offer the lower price. Jim Click only matched and dropped the price to get me to sign right then and there instead of waiting until I met with Thoroughbred the following day.

He also didn't say anything about the fact that I said "If I see it has been driven at all, I'm going to walk out on the deal. I don't want salesman, customers, porters, mechanics, or even Jesus himself to take that car out on the road. I don't care what the reasons are, I will not accept the car at all if this is the case. Pull it into the parking spot from the delivery truck and don't touch it until I get here."

By the way, the reason I say this is because I used to work for GM and I know that when ever new cars came in (like the 2005 Z06 when it first came out) the salesman hot-rodded the crap out of the cars before selling them. One of my friends who was a sales man at a dealership said that him and one other salesman when to the GM powertain plant and picked up 2 brand new Z06 Corvettes, and spent the next 10 minutes peeling wheel all the way to the dealership. The salesman at the Nissan dealership didn't deny that it happens there too. So no, I'm not being paranoid. It's no different from underwear IMO. I want to be the first and ONLY person to wear my underwear.

Not to mention people who come in to test drive them.

I was told by a dealership that the new Z will have at least 15-17 miles on the odo from manufacturer testing and driving the car in and out of the port. Anything more than that, it was driven by the dealership.

Hrmmm... I don't know. That sounds strange to me. We've bought lots of new cars from Infiniti and Nissan and never had that experience.

I'll talk to the sales rep at Nissan when I go back next week.

drisko 01-20-2009 04:42 PM

UPDATE: I talked to a new dealer near Santa Barbara, CA and they said they can order it for me. For the most part, they seemed very honest and I will probably order from them if the price is right.

AGAIN, UNIVERSAL CITY NISSAN IS TERRIBLE. DON'T GO THERE.

Crash 01-20-2009 06:46 PM

That's what I figured. I think they're going to tell you that they won't order them to sell you the ones they already got on-hand... A low down BS tactic.

Hey crash not to burst your bubble, I understand that you want your car to read 1 mile on the odometer but that is not likely to ever happen since all cars will come from the factory with around 3-5 miles on it. I work at a Nissan dealer here in louisiana. You do not have an option not to have the techs to not drive the vehicle either  shockin? The reason why they have to, is because there are fuses and relays that have to be installed to the vehicle once it is delivered to the dealer. Called the PDI (pre-delivery-inspection) In which your radio fuses, heater and tire pressure systems are all reseted by the techs, as an example to reset the tire pressure sensor you have to get the car to a steady 40mph cruise before it goes off.. So cut your salesman some slack because if you put a deposit on that car and wait 2-3 months to get it I m pretty sure he wont let anyone touch it, since he doesnt get paid on that deal until the vehicle is delivered.

Enjoy your Z and know that the only person that drove it before was a highly qualified Nissan Technitian:tiphat:

I got an offer $1K over the invoice for exact trim and options I want. If I placed the order before this month end it would be arrived by April.

drisko 01-21-2009 08:39 PM

I am probably going to settle for 1K under MSRP. I already got several matching offers for that. Problem is, I don't think Nissan is actually making the PERSIMMON interior yet

One of the dealers is going to call me back tomorrow to see if I can actually order a persimmon interior car.

My dealer said there is one on the East Coast. Are you getting White/persimmon? I am getting it.

Hey DRISKO. Do you want to work together and making a dealer with my local dealer? Check your PM.

Thanks for the heads up. I guess I'll have no choice to accept a few miles on it. But if they don't call me when that car gets off the truck so NOBODY drives it, I'm passing it up. The salesman understands my POV, so I'm sure that he'll let me know. LOL

Although, I have to say that I am glad about the PDI stuff, actually. I like quality control when it's good! I'm coming from 9 years of driving GMs. :(

zero 01-21-2009 11:12 PM

Crash, did you order yours yet?

Crash 01-21-2009 11:14 PM

Nope. I'll be ordering next month (I hope)
