Can Nav be added at the dealership?

If I find the trim and color I want, but without Nav, is it something that can be added at the dealership or do I have to order the car at that point? Come May or June, I'll be ready to buy and I want Touring/Sport/Nav, but whenever I check the inventory at dealership, finding the fully loaded with Nav is rare.

I have the same issue. I think that they will not add nav at dealership but I am not sure about this.

I guess an option is installing an aftermarket one but this will prove expensive

i hate the fact that nav is not available for the nismo version but i have come to accept it and i am going to get one of those portable units with voice command.

Yeah, I really would prefer the stock Nav setup, so I'm just trying to gauge what kind of hurdles I might encounter when I finally start sending offers to dealerships.

The factory NAV system also changes out the audio system too. It's very doubtful they would do that conversion at the dealership.

It would probably be pretty reasonably priced to install an aftermarket NAV in the cubby, but it wouldn't be integrated with the audio system like the factory NAV is

It isn't something that is easily interchangeable.
The IT system is more than just the Navi screen... it would be quite the challenge (and resulting bill) for a dealership to do this for you. Definitely not something they are meant to do.

:iagree:

Try Edmons and search your area for what you want or go to your dealer and tell him to get the color you want. I got my BC Roadster that way when there were virtually none on the East Coast & only 1/2 dozen or so in the country.

Is there an extra charge for ordering the exact model with options I want? I've only purchased one other brand new car and the one I wanted was on the lot. I'm probably not going to be ready to buy until May and the dealerships might have plenty of fully loaded models to choose from. That said, I still want to be ready for whatever comes my way when I start negotiating.

No, the price on the lot and order are the same. You might get a slightly better deal with something sitting on the lot, dealer is pressured to move it, but you can still get a great deal with a custom order.

if it's a Touring then it has the same head unit I thought? Didn't realize there were 2 different Bose systems.

Soygen 01-15-2010 02:51 PM

When you add Nav, it removes the 6 disk changer, so there is definitely differences between the systems.

There are three setups:
~Base (Base/Nismo) stereo
~Touring
~Touring with Nav

The touring & touring with Nav both use the same/similar BOSE setups, but the Nav gets control over some features and the controls along the headunit are completely different.

fuct 01-15-2010 03:43 PM
