I would just do it if you really want the car, it's a good deal and if you have the money to buy a fully loaded Z, what's the point in trying to find another one for an extra $500 off at best
I'm sure you might be able to find a better deal but this is a good deal so personally I'd do it |

A better deal than $1500 below invoice?? I'm pretty sure that's a slammin deal. $1500 below MSRP I would say you can get a better deal. OP, sounds like a smokin deal. I would pull the trigger.

Thanks for your input, fellas. I'm just trying to negotiate my trade-in (Acura TL 05) so far he said 1500 below invoice, 5.5% and 11k on my TL (KBB has it at 13k). So i think the dealer is recouping some of that back on my low ball trade-in.

if you are getting $2K below book for your trade but $1.5K below invoice for the new car, you are paying approximately $500 above invoice on the net deal. Still not bad... but in this market, I still think invoice is possible even with the 2010's.

If you have time drop by a car max and have them appraise your car (if you've got one near by). I was able to get a solid offer from them - and in turn got my dealer to do better. it did a very good job preventing them from low balling me.

I got my 2010 two weeks for MSRP OTD. That's about $350 below invoice before tax. I'm sure there are better deals than that. So you shouldn't do worst than that, but the equation becomes much more complicate with a trade-in.

As someone else stated, get a quote from Carmax, if the dealer won't match or beat it, sell your car to Carmax and then bargain to get at or below invoice price and use the cash from your old car as a down payment.

IMHO, assuming Carmax doesnt give you a fair deal, just sell it on the market. Yeah, it might take a while, but the 370 isnt going anywhere and you'll only improve on the deal as time passes with the 2010 models.
That's exactly what I did, and I ended up saving a boat load. Put it this way - they wanted to give me $3000 for my 2000 Z28 with only 44K miles on it, and $5000 for my 1969 Z28 clone. I told them to not even bother until those numbers were closer to $21000 combined MINIMUM. They didn't budge. I left, and sold the 2000 for $11000, and I got $13500 for my 69. Imagine that, right?

I've usually sold my nice "used car" myself and then negotiated clearly the new purchase for X dollars over dealer's invoice. The devil is always in the details when you have a trade-in. Guys like us tend to keep our "old cars" nice. and can usually be sold for a price closer to "retail," certainly for more than wholesale. Your car is desirable as a pre-owned make and model. Sell it first and then walk into the showroom with your wife and your checkbook. In today's economy, you'll always be able to buy a new Z for a few hundred over invoice, especially when you're not burdened with a trade-in and can shop regionally and travel a couple of hours to take delivery of the best buy.

They make it sound like 1500 below invoice but try to make up for it in ******** fees or by raising your interest if financing thru dealer.
Really, keep trade in, financing, and actual buying SEPARATE. THEN $1500 below invoice with no other dealer fees, vin etching etc. is a STEAL! (Meanwhile I will put money and bet that you will not achieve this in this month!) |
