how can I tell if it is a 2016 or 2017 model ?
What were the difference between 2016 and 2017?

I'm pretty sure that would be a 2017 model. If I recall correctly, the newer models typically come out in the summer time to early fall. I think the 2018's are rolling out around now in some areas.

Regardless, the difference between the 2016 and 2017 is pretty much nothing. I believe all they did was add Chicane yellow back to the line-up which hasn't been available since 2009. And they got rid of the magma red color.
