Hi folks. New member here. I have a question about this program. Do you need to finance the car through American Express? What is the connection to American Express exactly? Are you still able to lease at this price or is it purchasing only?

I think you have to be a AMEX card holder.

Found this on the site.

•Build your new car based on your preferences, or search from thousands of used cars.
•See your guaranteed upfront price relative to invoice on new cars from American Express Certified Dealers - you will see your UPFRONT price before entering your contact information. Dealers will honor this price with no negotiation or haggling.
•Once you get your price, you will see a list of Certified Dealers in your area with whom you can connect. Select the Certified Dealers you want to contact and enter your contact information. You will then receive the information about the Certified Dealers - you are under no obligation to purchase a vehicle.
•You will also receive an exclusive Price Protection Certificate that features a summary of the car you built, your guaranteed price and Certified Dealers' contact information.
•Contact the Certified Dealer(s) you selected to schedule a test drive and discuss availability of your car. They will do their best to match the vehicle you have configured online.
•Buy your new car at your guaranteed price with no negotiation and drive away happy! You can even help pay for your car with any American Express Card.

I finally got it to work. I got a price of $600 below invoice on a 2010 Roadster and $400 under invoice on a 2010 Coupe. These prices are better than I was able to get before....tomorrow I will contact the dealer(s) provided to me and see if any BS is involved.

The link worked OK for me but I can't see how the image above was accessed. It looks like the person (syntax) has queried the 40th anniv. car but I can't get it to do it.

I show 650 below invoice on a NISMO here in Atlanta.

Wonder what the catch is...I always suspect a catch. Like, you MUST choose financing with us at 7.99% and you can't pay off the car early. Or a tacked-on "finder fee" of $1,000. OR something...

Would be interested in seeing how WAY2FAST does...keep us posted if you're serious about giving it a go.

Here might be something interesting from that site:

Quote:
All displayed vehicles are subject to availability from the selling dealer.

The American Express Auto Purchasing Program is an information publishing site operated by Zag.com Inc. and features pricing, performance, technical and safety data available for new and used car/truck purchases at participating dealers. The lowest possible price is not guaranteed. Not available in all locations.

American Express does not operate this website or broker, sell, or lease motor vehicles. Zag is not the seller of any of the vehicles listed on this site. All vehicles shown on this site are advertised and offered for sale by licensed motor vehicle dealers. All displayed vehicles are subject to availability from the selling dealer, and used vehicles are subject to prior sale. Brokerage services in California are provided by Zag, a California licensed motor vehicle dealer/broker. You agree that you will not use this website or its services unless and until you have read the full disclosures accessible here.
(bolding by me)

This could JUST be a way to get your name on a list and then somehow entice you to go to their dealership.

As I said before, I'd like to see someone's experience with this how is braver than I am...

I contacted the dealer who gave a price of $600 under invoice today. They don't have the car/color I wanted in stock but would be able to get it from another dealer. They checked the area and found a few that were available. They charge an additional $699 "dealer fee" on all purchases which brings the cost of the Roadster to $99 over invoice....but then again, every dealer I contacted has a dealer fee ranging from $495 to $799. So even with the fee the final price is still cheaper than any of the other quotes I received. The thing is, today I finally got to see a roadster in person. While the wife liked it, to me it just looks to LARGE. Compared to a BMW Z4 or a Cayman, the thing looks huge. While the measurements provided show it to be around the same size, visually it sure doesn't look it. The high butt shape is probably partially responsible. One other note...the salesman tried to raise the top to show me what it looks like when up and it jambed...not good on a new car. Will it be a problem area ?

Interesting. I just priced out a fully loaded G37 Coupe Journey. It was pricing it over 9,000.00 under MSRP!

I dunno, "fast" but for me, the roadster doesn't look right. I think you hit the nail on the head talking "butt". Something about the lines don't look right on the convertible (to me). The coupe looks miles better, the lines and sweep of the top work good with "the butt".

Oddly enough, that 2-seater is 2 inches longer than my 4-seat RSX. Go figure!

I figured this deal was too good to be true. I think I'll just make a low-ball offer for the 2009 base with sport package that is here locally. I wanna get the sales tax deduction before it runs out at the end of the year too.

I would try the AMEX program and see what they offer from dealers in your state. Some states have limits on "dealer fees" unfortunately for me, Florida is not one of them.
